Question about the A Series Transmissions...

That's the a650e 5 speed ratios. (340 ratios added underneath) A "shift kit" is usually done by mods to the valve body and changes how hard the trans shifts under power, using the PCS all the trans behaviour is programmed so you can have buttery smooth shifts off boost and neck snapping...

Question about the A Series Transmissions...

1st is mid 3:1 Top is .74, nope the Mk3 ECT can't run it as it's full electronic, PCS will wire in and maintain all the stock Mk3 functions easily as it can control a trans with 6 forward gears. Another + is no need for a shift kit as it's all done from the PCS. Only - is for it to be an...

Question about the A Series Transmissions...

Been doing a bit of research into these, very low 1st gear and a lower OD than the 340's. I "believe" the Bellhousings interchange but a, not 100% on this. Control is going to be an issue as the ECT is built into the ECU on later model cars so something like a PCS will be needed.

You "could" do it only concern I'd have would be sealing it up and then getting all of the swarf out of it and I think that would take more time than stripping the engine and doing it properly.

Still check the block and head for flatness (specs are in the TRSM) and if all is well go for it, there's a lot more chance of success using the stock HG and ARP's if the rest is marginal in any way.

A stock HG with ARP hardware if you can't have it all machined. There's little to no chance all 3 will be in spec and a single one out = fail and the job ends up costing triple. Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear but it's reality, a few have rolled the dice and gotten away with it...

MW doesn't "bring" power but it allows you to run more timing/boost and that is where you find the power. I run a T04z and like the way it makes it's power but it was a bit lazy on the 3.0L once you get into Turbine housing that allow a decent top end, this is why I suggested the Sound...

NOT going to happen on a 3540r on that fuel without something like Methanol/Water injection. The response thing becomes a problem soon as you go bigger. Maybe a 67>70mm with a QuickSpool valve would work for you. If you get a 321 SS Header from somewhere like SSAC in the USA you can't...
