Heads are the same, better to find a complete swap as there are a bunch of small parts needed that will blow out the budget if you have to buy new from Toyota.
The snout on the mainshaft wears in both the W and R Supra transmissions, this allows the mainshaft to sag onto the Cluster creating drag, Reverse doesn't have a syncro so it clashes, nudging the shifter towards a forward gear overcomes the friction and stall the Gearset allowing it to slip into...
Works fine for upshifts but my way of thinking is if you have a programmable controller it's going to be a damn sight more consistant in D than you can ever be flapping a paddle ;)
