2J hands down as I know what it takes to build a 7M correctly and not many will have the resources/skills/determination to do so, having said that you can't halfass a 2J and expect it to live just because it's a 2J...
1J just doesn't make sense these days as not in a Mk3 it's just too heavy...
I can only go on what he's telling us....
My feeling is yes there's a leak and a pedal height retention test should have shown that even at half system pressure (more like 1/3).
If it's a bleeder/crush washer as you suspect there would have to be an outward sign as there's no way possible...
Damn I remember this also....
I had a 75cc Honda that had a 4 litre tank it used to cost around the 20c mark to fill and I could ride all day!
(I was of course a LOT younger than 16 though ;) )
I'm guessing the Cam has torn the head up pretty badly, only way to tell is pop some caps off, these heads don't have "bearings" as such so any damage pretty well junks the head... :(
Think I'd let it sit another day, at worst the Al will just dilute the oil a bit but as you're NOT going to run the engine on the cheap Oil you put in next it'd be ok either way.
Those mods alone are going to bump boost/power enough to be a danger if you drive it hard....
With any luck Fuel cut will save it, a composite HG won't take ANY detonation so be sure to use the best fuel available.
x2, only thing I would add is if you plan to crank some boost into it or do anything to get more power then pull the engine and prep it correctly for a MHG.
If you're happy with the stock engine output then leave it be it's gone 60K without blowing and contrary to popular belief they DON'T...
