i'm willing to bet it's the battery, as well. :) try jump starting it. if it starts and stays running, it's the battery. if it starts, runs, then dies when you disconnect the jumper cables, then your alternator is probably toasted. time for new brushes. :) -shaeff

if the starter doesnt work, then chances are it's your alarm. (or a dead starter) but if the alarm goes off, your starter will NOT work. you could grab the wires for the under hood sensor, and just loop them, but i chose to completely remove the alarm computer. it really wasnt that difficult...

i soaked mine in PB blaster, and it came right off. let it soak a bit. i ordered a new one along with new gaskets for it (metal o-rings) from champion toyota. call jeff. he'll hook you up. i asked for the water union bolt at the back of the head, and he knew exactly what i was talking about. :)...

you need the crank at 0*, and the cams matchmarks alligned with the notches in the rear plate... -shaeff

the door sensor is screwed up for the alarm. you have a few options here. you could get a new (or used) sensor, put it in, and call it a day, or try unlocking it from the passenger side door, and see if it still happens. if you'd like to completely disable the stock alarm system, here's how...

aside from the fact that the mk3's ABS system is very dated. i'm glad my 86.5 has no ABS, but if i could retrofit a NEW toyota ABS system to my car, i'd go for it, as technology goes forward. ;) new car abs is awesome. you cannot deny it. :) (well maybe you can. haha) -shaeff
