that wire is a ground. GROUND IT! any ground wires you have disconected, RE CONNECT.

you could just reverse the order of the plug wires and put the coil packs at the back of the engine, you would have to alter the wire harness connection for the coilpacks however. though this seems like less work than getting a COP set up to work.

what you described going up the hill could have been detonation, and that blows head gaskets as well.

i ended up using the ball end from my original throttle linkage and a throttle cable from a 97 camry, epoxied them together and BAM, instant (well, over night) throttle cable. the end from the camry fits on the JDM piece, and your original ball end clips on right where it is supposed to go...
