for some reason my tranny would always get extremely hot. the shifter would be hard to touch. ran redline fluid in there, same deal. then i switched to mobil one and the problem went away. ive neve noticed any difference in shifting smoothness from different gear oils.

or take a big ass screw driver/prybar and stick it in one of the flywheel teeth to keep the FW stationary.

be careful with the RTV, you dont want any squeezing out into the crank case, only to get clogged up an oil passage some where and ruin your motor!

either get it from drj for 25 bucks i think? or save up for an EBC. drjonez's price is right, and anything more than that is a waste of money that would be better used towards an EBC.

ask at your local truck repair shop where you can get a drive shaft made. it wont be AL but itll be lighter than stock, single piece, and not nearly as expensive as an AL or CF drive shaft.

id say its gotta be a wireing problem, either that or a vacuum leak that you are misdiagnosing. try just letting the car idle for a while, does the idle drop? if not id say its gotta be a wiring problem.
