You can get power from any switched source like the cig lighter radio or if you have a turbo timer harness that can work as well. Just needs to have power when switched on.
No thats no gOod. Fan is not needed when moving at speed there for the clutch let's the fan free wheel.
Also using electric fans will free up maybe 1-2 hp when is then lost loading up the alternator and usually won't do the job of cooling.
Coolant bypass on tb won't do anything.
Gutting the cat will give a tiny bit but on a turbo the whole stock exhaust system from turbo back is a restriction.

It's easy.
You measure the clearances.
Then remove the shims and measure them.
Then you add the amount needed for that shim to be in spec to the thickness of the shim and that equals the thickness of the new shim needed.

Rings generally seat within the first 50 miles. If there not by then they usually won't.
Also since its on no1 there could be some issues with the build. Like rear timing cover or over torquing the t belt tensioner.
Set engine to tdc. Loosen Tensioner. Pull belt off cams. Pull cam gears off(helps if you have the tool to hold the gears or a impact.). Pull the backing plate off. Change seals. Reverse.
Make sure to rotate the crank twice after installing the belt to make sure all the marks are still lined...
