Yeah, the broken car is a turbo targa. The parts car has an NA lsd, so 4.30:1 gears which should be fine for now.

Yeah, the sender is in the oil galery, which is presurized. So the oil does not move away from the sending unit, it moves away from the oil pickup, which results in an empty oil galery, which results in a dead motor.
The one thing I see that looks a little dismal is the tight AR on the exhaust side.
you said .55, right? IIRC the stock CT is closer to .63, I would see that tight AR as a big restriction for top end flow. although it should provide quick spool, provided it doesn't surge/choke the compressor.
