heard this on cnn

how do they survive in there? you think the fumes would kill the dumb things?
not the main reason, but a handy feature of them. on building a high compression NA motor (5m) as we had the head machined and used a thinner than stock HG, the timing belt was half a tooth off. 4 degress retarded on the cam gears was stock spec.
lowering compresion by the headgasket alone is the wrong way to do it. you need low comp pistons aswell. the 3mm gasket is only usefull if you had to remove alot of material from the head and or block to get it back to stock, otherwise you will need adjustable cam gears to get your timing...
not to bad, it is a start i guess.
also grab a set of these, they come in real handy http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00944284000P?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2
dont look to bad actually. i was also thinking of using a black sticker base and then x-acto the icons out, make it look more like the 89+ style, as my tems switch is also in bad shape.
true, though it looks like the stuff in the mk3 is ashphalt based. not that im overly worried about fires, as car will be a stripped shell when im doing the rust removal/welding,
what is the easiest way to remove this stuff? short oof paying someone else to do it?
need to replace and weld in some sheet metal to fix holes in the floor, but its chipping off very very slowly. any advice would be a help
