Hi guys,
Been trying to find info on this for the last 30mins or so. I have a spare set of turbos and mine are starting to smoke. I want to swap them out, but I need the turbo gaskets. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable with any other engine/turbo or is it a unique part number. Does...
I had the same concerns as you about interchangeability. I've got 2JZ valve seals already installed in my car (I'm assuming valve guides and seals are the same). What I was told by a reputable tuning shop locally is that the 2JZ valve seals are the newer version of the 1JZ ones. In other words...
Nice car, looks like a lot of effort put into it.
I've been thinking of getting the beech performance short shifter kit for my car too. When you installed it did you notice any additional noise coming from the tranny area?
Haha. What I thought might have been my problem was that because the car ECU is from a right handed car that it was thinking the passenger door was being opened, hence the alarm turning on. I'm willing to bet it's the door lock trigger but need to address a few other things on the car first...
Seems I'm probably better off going aftermarket. I agree, the alarm should be based on door opening not unlocking, bizarre. I replaced the battery in the fob and it did absolutely nothing. I like the immobilizer option though.

Hi Jetjock,
The key FOB I'm not sure what it does yet. I literally picked up the car yesterday. It needs a specialty battery. Funny thing is the fob looks like it is personalized and it says LJ on it. I thought I saw a LJ on here somewhere.
I will pull apart the door and check that alarm...
Thanks guys,
Seoul4korea what should I wiggle to test what? I think you are saying wiggle the alarm switch and see if the lights come on?
Do you know the part numbers of the alarm switch by chance? I'd like to keep it if possible.
Thx again
I'm having problems with my alarm system. The car has a non-vvti 1JZ w/ a supra 1JZ ECU running stock twins. Weird thing is that every time I use the key to unlock the door on the drivers side the factory alarm goes off and the car cannot be started for 30 minutes. I know how to reset it so that...
Thanks guys,
Funny thing was, the one that was in it before has a plastic base that is thicker than the 2JZ one. Without the grommet, it seemed to sit in there nice a flush. I'll buy the grommet from Toyota and go from there.
I have a 1st generation 1JZ and it has a new PCV valve (part number 88402 5HW) and I bought an aftermarket one for the 2JZ (part number 045-0375) which looks completely different than the one in the car now. What I'm wondering is my car has NO rubber grommet in the valve cover. Do I need one...
I just talked to the RCTS guys here locally who specialize in these cars and they said the 2JZ valve stem seals supersede the 1JZ seals, essentially meaning that the 2JZ seals replaced them.
With respect to the plugs, you mean I would have to pull the plugs and see if any ash is present right?
Thanks Hvyman,
That was my inclination as well. I'm just worried b/c I am going to drive it 10 hours home once I buy it...
If the oil is being combusted, would there be signs of ash in the spark plug area?
Hi folks,
Been trying to find a thread to answer my question but with no luck. I know that the part numbers are different between the 2JZ and the 1JZ valve stem seals however what I do not know is whether they are physically different? I'm looking at buying a car that the previous owner used...
Man, I must be getting old, I can't imagine not having A/C...and I'm from Canada and we only need it 3 months a year! WRT the cruise, is that dual linkage system something that I can reuse from a 7M? Do you know of anyone who would know the part numbers I'd need to get it working?
Thanks for...
I am looking at a few MK3 supras with 1JZ conversions and what I'm noticing is that a lot of them do not have A/C or cruise control in their car properly connected. I'm looking at buying my 3rd supra in the last 15 years so I'm looking for a car that has both these options. It will be a third...
