I picked up my new bearings today, so if everything goes well this weekend I should be ready for the dyno. Put me down for a maybe and I will be 100% by Sunday.I only need 30 mins; I just want to do a few runs on different boosts, my tune's good.
I run the Lexus and eliminated the ISC, and it works perfect. I just adjusted the idle up a little and it runs fine. You just need a way to let a little extra air bleed through the throttle body.
Well I'm doing my taxes now and I made under 10K last year (I'm a student, not a hobo), and as mentioned my car has about $4000 into it. So yes, it shows how broke I am.
Current Supra:
$980 for car
$450 upgraded CT-26
$650 IC and pipes and BOV
$350 AFPR/LEX/SAFC
$500 clutch
$500 turbo elbow/DP/3"Exhaust
$200 replacing interior parts
$~500 other gaskets, fluids, repairs
Rest of everything is leftover from old car, so $0. I guess this doesn't count piles of spare...
Dang now I'm torn. Should I go visit my car and try and get it running or stick around Alabama to see the 1JAYZ come to life. When does Aaron fly in, Friday or Saturday?
Come to think of it aljordan is right. I believe I got enough play out of the engine to just jack it up without taking it off the mounts. The rubber has some flex and it was enough for me.
Too long didn't read.
I was thinking about your quandry. Have you tried possibly breaking the engine off its mounts and jacking it up for some clearance? I'm not sure but this may work.
Errr. In the trunk there is an access panel to get to the inside of the gas lever. If you pop that panel out and reach your arm in you can pull the cable or lever to open the gas door the right way.
As soon as I find a machine shop to order me some King bearings I should be set. Only one was bad, but the crank has been sized for all standard sized bearings so I'll probably change them all. Then I should be good to go.
Okay I think I got this all figured out. They are King bearings (I can tell by the logo), all the same part number. In King's catalog it shows these are all .25. So I assume whoever did the rebuild reground the crank to fit all same-sized bearings instead of messing with Toyota's numbering...
Good news I found my one trashed bearing. Obviously different than normal wear as on the others. The crank journal looks in good shape too. Thanks for help guys.
OK 3 down, 3 to go. I was hoping one would look really bad, so I would have something to compare too. So far all crank journals look great, and all bearings have similar, but not severe, wear. All are within spec so far (the last one was really close to the max, so I may replace it).
I have a...
-Matchmarks confirmed, 6-5-4-3-2-1. Wow some are deep though. Now I need to find out what scratched my pan, because it does have some scoring as well. Thanks guys.
-The bearings are silver, no copper visible anywhere.
-Low as in low volume, but yes, also low on the engine. Now that I see the...
