4.30 why is it good ???

I came into this post late. If it has not been said then I will say it. Gearing multiplies torque. So the larger the gear ratio, the more the torque coming from the engine is multiplied. So a 4.30 multiplies torque more. However, gearing also multiplies speed. So your engine rpms are with...

    SySt's Build up

Scott, the VR4 is still under the knife. I scratched the bore with a piston ring :(. So we pulled the other engine and are making one good engine out of two, for short. My LS6 swap is going slow. I have everything needed to test fit, just need a welder now... Also, the space in my garage...

    Fuel Cell Install

I took my fuel tank down. Not pleased with condition. I am installing a 16 Gallon ATL fuel cell. Anyone who has installed a fuel cell in their Supra please respond with pictures.

    Pack much?

Not to mention the fact it has already "fallen over". It is on it's side.

    ALL MN Supra

Hey Scott, I have a good idea. We can have a meet once you get another Supra. Of course since it will be kind of a "car-warming" meet it would have to be at your roommate's place ;). Nah, I will probably have one at my parents' house. We can do some grilling and driving around. I also...

    ALL MN Supra

We need to have an MN meet before summer ends. I would organize it but it seems out of place as my Supra is not even running. So basically one of you guys needs to get it going ;).

    Mustang Rims on Supra

Or you could go with the 17x9.0 +24mm Cobra R wheels ;). You can run a 255/40-17 with those all around. No rubbing issues at all with my Eibach/Bilstein setup. In my opinion, the offset is PERFECT.

    welding spider gears pro's con's

Yes, it will help you get traction at the strip. Actually, despite popular beleif it does not make the car handle like crap. It does make it a bit more squirrly. Just bear in mind you are welding on tempered steel, if you know anything about welding you know why that is bad.

    Driveshaft Center Carrier Bearing

DEFINITLY sounds like the driveshaft center bearing. Replace it to fix your woes. I would do it ASAP as well. A friend of mine had his bearing go out and did not know what it was right away. His differential eventually started tearing it's self apart. Chances are his pinion bearing was...

My budget build - what can I expect ??

For a fuel system upgrade, larger injectors are probably not all that you "need". You should at least put in a Walbro 255lph pump as well. You can find the kits for those around $100. A different fuel pressure regulator may also be advised as the factory unit will likely not flow enough at...

    temperature gauge short

What do you mean by it doesn't work? I would just guess by frequency that it's either your temp sensor connector came loose or the sensor it's self is faulty. Give me more info about how it doesn't work.

will this tool work for all seals?

I would put either a sort of silicon or a gasket maker type sealent around the outer diameter of the seal as that can leak. Especially when the seal goes in fairly easy.

Lipp egr block off plates from suprasport.com

I had the EGR plates on my engine. They go where the EGR valve bolted to. I suggest a 1/4"-1/2" increase in intake manifold EGR bolts as the SupraSport plates are thick and you can not get enough bite to torque plates down much.

broken rear subframe...can it be welded?

Yes, the subframe can be welded. However it has to be PERFECT. Basically, for all practical reasons don't even attempt it. You can probably pick up another one up for ~$100.

    SySt's Build up

Picked up a 0 Mile f-body oil pan as my Corvette pan would not fit without pretty serious subframe modification. Also picked up valve covers. Now all I need is a bell housing, shifter and gasket set. I can then put the engine the rest of the way together and get the mounting off the...

    SySt's Build up

The T56 is about 32" end to end... I am not going to try and mount engine forward any to make up fo the difference... I guess we'll see how far off the shifter is when I try to mount it up. I will likely use some rod ends and effectively relocate the shifter off the transmission.

    SySt's Build up

Just received my Tremec T56 transmission today. Below are some pics. Also, do any of you know the length of an R154 or W58 with the bellhousing on?

    SySt's Build up

Finally, an update. I just sent out $800 for a T56 transmission. When it comes I will put some pics up. I still need a bellhousing and shifter before I can fabricate the mounts for the engine and tranny. Oh well, I am definitly making progress.

    Crooked Suspension

I too have run into the same problem when I installed that same setup in my Supra. I put in poly bushings over a year ago and replaced both subframes and the problem has gone away. Not exactly sure what it was to begin with. Could be your bushings binding causing some extra torque to be...
