I'm in Fountain Valley. That's Orange County.
You should use caution around where you are. I have a friend who lives in Covina. There's a lot of muscle cars out there, including my friend.
I talked to a friend of his one day at his house. He has a built turbo 240. He said he was...
Oh....dumb question, but I need to ask.
When you tested the power to the head light fuses, you did have the head light switch on and the head lights were up? Right?
And you do have the bulbs in the receptacles all the way. If they are not making good contact, the bulbs won't work and you...
Are you saying the head light fuses don't have power?
If the lights go up and down, then the head light relay is working and you should get power to the head light fuses.
Does the fog lamps work? They should if the integrated relay is working because they are on a different power line. The...
Toysport in Gardena (South Bay) specializes in Toyota cars. They're a motorsports shop and build Toyota cars for street and track racing. But they don't deal a lot in Mk IIIs so they don't really know a lot about them. They should be able to get headers or just about anything available...
Hopefully who ever mag'd your crank knows what they are doing.
If you run too much current and generate too big of a magnetic field, you'll show defects that are real deep. All you're looking for is material defects on the surface. Subsurface cracks don't grow. Only cracks on the surface...
Oh.
Here's the site that tells you about the laws about modification of car parts:

You can legally do a 7MGE to 7MGTE swap or even add a turbo to a non-turbo (NA to T mod). You just have to get it certified by the state referee.
OK
I finally found the Cal State site that has the EOs
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php
I didn't see a Mk III Doug Thorley header. There was a Mk III though.
I might have missed it, but I didn't see any headers of any brand for a MkIII or Mk IV.
Check out the site...
You probably should bo with the GTE electronics. The AFM, ECU, distrubuterless ignition, larger 440 injectors and what ever else there is, is more suited for the turbo. But people have successfully run the NA with just a turbo. But I think you'll run out of HP mods real soon with the flapper...
Water pumps can cause coolant cavatation because the fins are worn or not correct. This heats the water up. The faster the pump spins, the more cavatation there is and the hotter the pump makes the water. So if you over heat at high speed than this could be your problem. If you over heat at...
I've got a 7MGE (or at least is used to be) and I did get headers from Toysport. When I openned up the box, it looked almost identical to the stock manifold, except for the collector that needs to be welded on at the end. I don't remember if its a pacesetter or some other brand.
I'd stay...
If you've got all the bolts and nuts off, then the only thing holding it on is the gasket and/or gasket sealer. If the guy that put it on is like me, there's probably a lot of gasket sealer on it.
I've had my '87 NA since it was new. I had a distrubuter go out at year 3.5, and Toyota replace it for free. I think it was some kind of silent recall. The car just died and would't fire up.
I had my HG go out around year 6, before 50K.
I've had a couple of clutch master and slave cylinders...
Surface roughness is accurately measured using a machine. Most good machine shops will have one.
There are comparison panels too, but they're used for estimating surface roughness.
You can also go the TSRM to check

But the drunk guy has the best idea.
If you're real serious about tuning, especially if your going for high boost pressures, I don't know of any reliable and cheap way to do it. You're going to want fuel and ignition tuning. I guess you could get a cheap fuel tuner and a MSD ignition. But for me, I wanted a reliable full stand...
There's a lot of different stainless steels. Some are more corrosion resistant than others. Some are stronger than others. Some are of course garbage. As far as strength, stainless steels can be just as strong as carbon steels.
The TSRM was not very specific on what materials are used so no...
Nitrided steel is super hard. But its also brittle. It will wear the cylinders instead of wearing down.
Chromoly is just a good grade steel, an ANSI 4130 or ANSI 4140 low alloy carbon steel. It's used in steel race bicycle frames and aircraft because of the reasonably high strength to weight...
My thermo switch has also never failed. But I feel more in control if I have a manual back up.
I've adjusted the temperature several times to find what suits me.
Ohhh..... those thermo switches for the electric fans are adjustable with a turn of a knob. How cool...........
You can buy the...
