I have heard the 944 being a money pit. That also scared me away from them. I would have loved the 928, but I was shopping for one back in 1995 and getting one back them was out of the question. Too expensive.
Stock Autozone Duralast clutch set is $577.99. Damn. I've heard those cars were expensive to maintain. Before getting my MKIII turbo I was going to finance a 944, but people were telling me that I wouldn't be able to afford the regular routine maintenance. I couldn't find a clean 944 anyway...
That's exactly what happened to my lower bolt hole. It was stripped. I measured how deep that bolt hole is and it went in about 18mm deep. Only about 5-7mm of the bolt hole was stripped. I went ahead and found a stud with the same thread pitch and screwed it in there. Now the lower fastner...
Why doesn't he just get a smaller spool happy turbo and detune it for lower responsive streetable power? Put normal tires on it, and install the rest of the interior and call it a day.
I resealed my iac valve, and idle is still acting funny. I'm going to use my friends timing gun to see if...
That was an awesome video. I love what he has to say at the very end about being content with what you have. That's how I feel about my MKIII. I'm pretty content with where it's at. Do I want more... of course, but I don't want to go down that same slippery slope as he did. But then, I...
They've been charging $5 a car for a long time. Maybe cause more people are going to the meet at Potranco & 151 they're skipping Biff's. It' been many years since I've been to Biff's. LOPD were pricks to the import crowd. Their whole event wasn't really import friendly back then.
Take the plugs you had in the engine while it was breaking up and check their current gap. Let us know what they were per cylinder. I'm still stumped on the red deposits on #6 cylinder. Maybe somebody else would know what was going on in that cylinder.
Your afrs that you described sounds...
Okay, so your second attempt fixed your compression issues. No need to rebuild the engine now. :icon_razz
Now to your break up issue. Did you have a break up issue before you started messing with your car? What's your spark plug gap for starters? At what rpm range to you experience the...
Yeah post some pics. We'd like to see what you're working with. Personally, I wouldn't get a valve job unless it really needed it. If the valves are seating fine then run it.
I see. You'll need at least 12 shims to get started on measuring for the correct sizes you're going to need. Do the valve lash job once your new cams come in. No sense in measuring for the stock camshaft just to change them out.
You bought a head with no shims... where is your original head? If you still have it where are the shims from that head? Just let the machine shop do the valve job and shave it. You can set the valve lash at home. It's easy.
You just need any shims to get a start. You need at least 12 so...
You probably put way too much oil in so compression numbers went sky high, and you possibly bent the rod in the cylinder. You can't compress that much oil so the connecting rod gave way and bent all to hell. Your engine is fucked now!!!! OMG, what'd ya do!?
Smoke could very well be your valve stem seals. Valve stem seals will not affect compression test numbers. How many miles are on this engine? What kind of head gasket? What prompted you to do a compression test to begin with? How was the car running prior to the test?
Yeah, it's that one on 815 Jefferson Ave. in Waco. Steer very clear and far from them. Many people that have experience problems with their workmanship have been given the shaft when their turbo wasn't covered under warranty.
