    Exhaust Comparison Thread

7M GTE Stock Manifold BIC divorced downpipe 3.5" SS exhaust, no cats Apexi N1 Muffler 3.5" in 4.5" out Don't have any videos unfortunately and can't post any due to car being dead, but I'll just say it purrs like a kitten at idle and roars like a lion when you're boosting :D

    Skipping when lightly on throttle.

195psi seems super high on the compression. TSRM says 156psi (or higher) for the GE. Has the engine been rebuilt, head gasket replaced, etc before? If so someone may not have done their homework and put too thin a gasket on to keep your compression in check. If that's the case, I wouldn't be...

    turbo adapter

Cutting exhaust manifolds can be a lot of work because they're incredibly hard and quite thick. It's not something I'd want to do with a sawzall that's for sure. It is possible though, and if your dad can do a good welding job that is an option.

    turbo adapter

I've seen a few adapters out there, but they're typically more expensive than what they're worth. Best bet would be to just look for a manifold. Unfortunately I don't have anything to recommend or anywhere to check out, but if it were myself, that's where I'd start.

valve job machine shop asked me about

Like suprarich has already said, it's not something you need to do for your power requirements. If you have problems with burning oil that's leaing through your valve seals then yes, probably a good idea if you're going to be building towards a 700hp engine. The only other reason you'd get it...

    Main fuse relay?

Yeah, a battery should stay above 9.8V under half it's rated CCA load for 10 seconds. If it drops below that it's either done or on it's way out. Give it a jump first like MK3runner said, see if you can get it going that way. If your in car beeper is changing to a lower pitch, it's not...

    Need help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading all caps hurts my head. Check your codes, always a first place to start with troubleshooting on an EFI system. This link gives you some instructions on how to do so: http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/TechTips/engine_error_codes.aspx

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

I went on google to just research some of this stuff a bit and holy smokes I find another Supramania thread! I just thought I'd post a link to it for reference sake for everyone else, because it's a VERY good writeup. Doesn't look like it's too old, but whatever, any reference is good...

Welcome to the site and congrats on the purchase of your car! No very often you get to deal with an original owner when buying a 20 year old car, you're lucky. You'll find a lot of information here ranging from small easy mods to in depth mechanical and electrical, and sometimes threads that...

    headgasket set

I've used a bunch of Victor Reinz gaskets before and haven't had a problem with them. If you are leary about using a cheaper head gasket I do have a spare Fel-pro one for sale.

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

I'll definitely keep that and mind and get it checked out then. Are there any signs that I myself can look for? I honestly hadn't heard of this happening until this point, is it a common problem?

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

Been away for the weekend so I couldn't follow up, sorry about that. The local machine shop I took it too checked out the head through and through. I know that they did a pressure test on it for sure and it came out clean. Apparently they've done a fair number of 7M heads and this is one of...

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

Already have ARP studs in there, so that's taken care of. Most likely would have run lean if anything, as I've had fuel cut problems in the past. As for deck cleaning, I've done it a few times as an apprentice at GM, and none of them came back leaking, so I should be good :). And yes, there...

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

Crysis averted! Talked to the previous owner (so glad I saved his number in my phone!) and he only did a 0.020" over bore, bringing the cylinder bore to 83.5mm if I'm not mistaken. Head gasket should work! Now the question is are my problems now due to the fact that he used an 86mm bore...

    Electric fan hookup???

I don't have AC in my car (therefore, never use it) but the electric fans come on at about 205F (on my aftermarket water temp gauge). I don't know if that's early enough or not for fans to come on, but I was contemplating doing electric fans just off those plugs.

Head RE+RE, tell me if I'm missing something

I was doing a bunch of picking through the different sections today and got to the head gasket fitting threads. Completely oblivious to thinking about bore size, I had bought the Cometic 0.051" in 84mm, but I remembered the previous owner had put an HKS one after putting in overbore pistons. I...
