Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

Can't be a 98 Corolla then, those engines have a timing chain. The 97 Corollas have the 7A-FE engine which is much much more reliable (and has a Timing belt) The early 1ZZ-FE engines were very touchy on maintainance, if you got lax they went south quickly. They got a little better later on...

Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

I've fixed and driven all 3 generations! Decent cars, for what they are. Don't expect to change the world or move mountains, but its a nice smooth drivetrain and very quiet (imo) Try test driving one and see what you think! Not many problems, save a couple recalls and water pumps leaking. If...

    Free Mods

Lets please not discuss that here, its been argued to death many, many times. It doesn't matter what other cars have done with success, because this isn't some 'other' car. You can do whatever you want to do, but just make sure you do it safe and do it well!

solid hub vs sprung hub clutch?

If synchro rings are worn, they can't slow the shaft down very fast, which translates to a slower shift. Conversely, new synchros have great traction and can slow the shaft in less time, meaning a quicker shift.

    WWYD (What Would You Do)

You just need to check around. Suprasport and driftmotion are good places to start imo. The stopper gaskets are NOT cheap by ay means, expect to pay 300+ for one D:

Need a reliable, cheap dd (AKA I hate VW)

Nah, only the mk1 MR2s and GTS Corollas came with the 4A-GE engine. The camry has a 3S-C or 3S-FE engine back in those days, but still nice motors! My personal reccomendation to anyone looking for a cheap and supremely reliable vehicle would be a 1993-1997 manual Corolla. They had the 4A-FE and...

What does the stock hood weigh, and what's the lightest hood available?

Yep, they've been made but were very expensive. SupraofDoom had a lot of CF stuff about a year ago for sale but somebody cleaned 'em out before I could get anything :(

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Lol, my uncle had an Iveco truck and his insurance company said that Iveco didn't exist. An adjuster came out and classified it as an Isuzu because his system had no information on Iveco XD I'm going to hope you have the pigtail. Will I need a voltage referance chart for it, or is it pretty...

What was it from, then? My first guess would be something GM related, but ya never know! Obviously it says Bosch on it so maybe VW/Audi?

Do you have a pigtail for it? I think that would be the only tricky loose end

I'm sure you'll get there someday, Brad. In fact, I'm willing to bet a lot of people on this board would do the same were it a financial possibility.

You crazy, boy! I personally always have a driving set of tires and a drag set for that exact reason. Guess they're going to listen a little more closely to you next time ;)

Parts are starting to come in now, got the head gasket (2.0mm HKS Stopper), intercooler piping has been ordered, hopefully the Marlin crawler stuff should be sent to me this week, if all goes well! Valve springs will be ordered once the head porting is done, which should give enough time for...

Difference in Turbo kits 67 vs 72mm for 2jz

You are going to want to give more information for prospective smart people to use. Tuning system (piggyback/standalone), manual/auto, headwork, built or stock, fuel used, what kind of racing you want to do, etc. Lots of info is a good thing for you and will get the closest results to what you...
