    7m gte

To reiterate, you've got lots to learn before you start modding your engine. Boost control is an easy way to more power, it's also an easy way to your first engine rebuild. There are things that you should do first. 1. Check for HG leaks. A compression test, a leak-down test, or a block test...

Oil pump line threads / Driftmotion braided hose.

I'm puzzled. I got a Driftmotion braided SS line for the oil pump tot he block from someone who won't be using it, but it wasn't quite complete. The adapter from the oil pump to the line was missing, and the other adapter wouldn't thread in on either block or oil pump side. The adapter...

It's been said before, it'll be said again. Just because your motor hasn't grenaded doesn't mean that it's safe.

    One brake light won't work

The tail lights turning off is normal behavior when the brake lights come on. First suspect is the yellow box, which is the tail light failure sensor module. These things do bad things when they get wet and corroded. Is the "tail light out" light lit on your dashboard? After that, it's wiring...

After the turbo, go as big an exhaust as you can manage. 3" is good for as far as 550s will take you.

    I.C.E question (head units)

I bought a generic power antenna from my local Canadian Tire. They're about $60 CAD. I'm sure that your local parts store has something that's the same. The hardware that came with it is (of course) useless, but if you keep the hardware from your factory antenna from above and below the sheet...

    I.C.E question (head units)

Agreed. A head unit for a Supra should be a no-brainer. Crutchfield.com will have a lot of info as to what will fit (Which is just about anything.)

    7M build advise please

I have things on the stand. Installed the oil squirters, knock sensors, and the 7M-GE oil filter union bolt on the block. I was looking at the oil pump. I have one of the DM braided lines from the pump to the block, but it seems that I'm missing one of the adapters, and the other seems to be...

Or... Pull the radiator back and see how much crap has accumulated between the radiator and AC condenser.

    Adjusting boost?

Even if I'm a better driver for it, I can STILL be a better driver without that turbo bite... That said, I leave the Supra at 15 lbs all the time. :D

    Adjusting boost?

I can think of a few reasons. Fuel economy, for one. After all, the limit set by the boost controller determines the maximum rate at which the car can consume fuel. There's also the whole "turbo bite" thing, which may not be the experience that you want on the highway. Plus there are always...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I loved my stripped sawblades, but didn't clearcoat them, so they looked pretty rough a couple years later. Looking at those photos, I hope that you painted under the balancing weights, and didn't just paint over it all. Of course it'll be fine while you keep those tires, but the silver...

Valve Cover Gasket Question, Toyota vs. Aftermarket

I don't think that the age of the rubber is a big factor in how long the gaskets last. It's the exposure to oil, plus heat cycles under pressure which age the gaskets. I've had factory gaskets which were really old, but were still supple and soft when they went in. Lasted just fine. Valve cover...

Engine overheats on highway with AC on

"Spare" undertrays are about as rare as hen's teeth. Mine's nearly wrecked, so I'm always on the lookout. So many people pull it off to get to something else, then never put it back on, and toss it. Then they figure out that it's necessary, and go looking for one, so if there's one on any cars...

Front bumper is off, looking for suggestions

Flat black is theoretically best for dissipating heat, but really, it's not going to matter as long as the paint isn't thick enough to provide thermal insulation. Overspray is not going to get that kind of thickness.

Engine overheats on highway with AC on

Personally, I check the fan clutch right after shutdown, while it's hot. At that time, the clutch should have enough resistance that it takes a little effort to spin, and should NOT spin freely after you push the blades (ie: the fan comes to an immediate stop when you let go instead of...

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

If the bolt is stripping, replace the bolt. Maybe chase a tap in the block to refresh the threads there. Having that tensioner let go is NOT something that you want to happen while you're out for a drive, unless you like towing bills. (At least it probably won't cost you valves with the 7M.)...

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

Put the timing belt on with the crank at TDC and the cam gear marks aligned with the engine cover. At #1 TDC, #6 will also be at TDC. #2 and #5 will be 120 deg BTDC, #3 and #4 will be 240 deg BTDC. #1 should have all valves closed (Start of ignition stroke) #2 should have exhaust valves...

Best rotors that fit stock calipers

Stock callipers, stock rotors. Brembo makes stock replacement rotors, which is what I have on my car now. Don't get cross-drilled, though it may be possible that slotted may offer a performance improvement with stock pads. Get better pads, as the best braking performance improvement...
