    turbo ??

Yes, you still have fuel cut with the Lexus/550, but really, that's a GOOD thing. So long as you are running stock engine management, you want fuel cut. You want that protection in the event that something holes your IC, or you pop off an IC pipe connector, or even worse, your wastegate just...

Used mk3 with 1jz vs. used with 7m

To me, it ALL depends on the quality of the swap. If you get someone who hack their way through it, and you know that they're out there, then I'd rather have the 7M. Every time. It's way harder to fix bad work than it is to start over and do good work. There's also the way that it's been...

    intercooler questions

I think that if I didn't already have my Spearco replica, I'd buy it.

.25 amp parasitic draw through dome fuse

I've been happy with my Alpine audio stuff. I'm very picky about audio quality, but I'm also happy with the iPod control user interface, and the Bluetooth functions. I have a cheaper unit in my DD, and as such I appreciate small details like pausing the audio when the phone rings, a complete...

.25 amp parasitic draw through dome fuse

Do you have an aftermarket deck? I recall that it also powers the constant power for the deck. Many aftermarket decks also use constant power for other functions. My Pioneer used to draw over 120mA just from some the transistors used to turn on the power antenna and amplifiers. Also check the...

Is an Mkiii the right car for me?

If it's the Mk4 you love, then save for one. If you can live with RHD, then a JDM one is probably a cheaper way to get ahold of one. It might not even be much above the range of a nice Mk3. Me, I fell in love with the Mk3 when I first saw a brand new '87T, so it's the car I wanted.

    coolent temp gauge problems

Check the connection of the wire to the sending unit first. Make sure it's clean, and that the wire isn't under stress. It could be as simple as the wire disconnecting when the engine pulls to the side. Also if your engine is pulling to the side like that... You may want to check your motor...

    New Driftmotion Intercooler Kit

Hot weather is relative. I live in Canada. Winter is really cold, summer gets more than warm. The whole point of an intercooler is to reduce your intake air temps, and the better the intercooler the better it can do that job. I don't think that it's ever a complete waste, and is a good idea is...

    light failure box bypass?

Before you replace it, pull it out and open it up. It's not a very complicated circuit, you can probably see where it's gone bad pretty easy, and it's likely a simple job to fix if you can manage a soldering iron at all. Cheaper to fix than the $5 from a wrecker. Otherwise, they're easy to find...

7mgte coolant temp gauge not working and other questions

Sounds like a short to ground for the temp sender wire.

    Doing Brakes

Since it's a floating calliper, there's no way that over-torquing the calliper would cause a warped rotor. Brake judder isn't usually warped rotors anyway, particularly not with a floating calliper. It's possibly a very bad job with bedding in the brakes, which can do that. I had brake judder...

How many people run an air filter on their BOV?

Okay, so it's open. Doesn't this mean a vacuum leak? So what the upshot is that you don't want to run a BOV if you're still on the AFM. You want to stick to a bypass valve, like stock or the Bosch, unless you have and are using a recirculation fitting. (Glad that I'm doing that, then.)

    quick question regarding the mk3

Other proceedural advise: Decide on your turbo FIRST. This decision will affect your exhaust choices, intercooler choices, and ultimately how much power your setup will be capable of. If you're going to go FFIM, decide on that, too, since it will likewise have some far reaching consequences...

Bought a rebuilt block need help.

Not from what people have been telling me about how shallow the induction hardenening on the journal surfaces is.

Bought a rebuilt block need help.

WD-40 on the piston rings before you pull. Hope the crank journals are okay. 400WHP will still be fine with stock internals. I went with forged myself though I don't feel that I absolutely had to. I've got stock rods which have been shot-peened. I'm building for better than my power goals, so...

How many people run an air filter on their BOV?

I've got an HKS SSQV. I hated the noise. Way too much attention, every time starting off from a light. People thought that I was trying to race or something even if shifting at 2500 RPM. (Much louder when I was putting the boots to it, of course, but if all you heard was at lower throttle, then...

    light failure box bypass?

I dunno. I like having an indication that I have a burned out lamp. Much better than looking like an idiot with 3/4 brake lights on every time you come to an intersection. I had to re-solder a corroded trace in mine when my tail light gaskets were bad, but I haven't had to replace it, and I've...

    quick question regarding the mk3

I had the clutch on my fan lock up once. It was loud then, but definitely not working properly. It will be loud with the hood up, but you shouldn't be able to hear it from inside the car with the hood down.

    T4 on my 7MGTE

Stock GTE monifolds aren't hard to come by. I have 2 on my garage floor. One has a busted turbo stud, and I can't get the broken part out, but the other is perfectly fine.

    Valve Clearances & Performance

Damn, gold mine. I'll probably be doing my valves this weekend. I've got some spare shims, and of course the full complement that's already there, but now at least I can get the ones that I need.
