Look to pay $3000-$4000 for a ls1 and t56 trans...hummmm maybe it would be better to go with the 1uz...but getting 350-400whp will be tough with out boost..sure it can be done.....prolly be radical though..i say 1uz with boost for the cheapest quickest alternitive...anyone else??
in that case ls1 or ls2... ls1 is 350hp stock....my cousin found a ls1 SS camero( those are 375hp i think) clip for $2500 and thats even with the t56..can't beat that...
Never seen it done, but the nissan q45 is a strong motor...puts out more low end tq than the 1uz..Lt1 is a good motor as well as the ls1..depends on what kind of money you want to spend..any of these motors can makes some serious power boosted....I think the 1uz is the high rev king of the bunch...
Get you a wideband ASAP.. i just bought one fairly cheap..http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AEM-GAUGE-TYPE-6-IN-1-WIDEBAND-UEGO-CONTROLLER-30-4100_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ021QQitemZ310117831531QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW.
This may sound stupid, but i thought it would be cool to run two different sized twins...for instanace a gt25r with a .81 hot a/r and gt28r(disco potato) with a .81 hot a/r...
The reason i asked is because he invested good amount of money going single..i was just wondering why the switch...Believe me if i could have stay twin i would have..it's just more cost effective to go single...All i want is a strong 400+whp, so the twins would be all you need for that..but to...
I'll trade you my stocks for your 550's????? lol...just kidding ...Just like everything else i would asume that you need supporting mods, or you will prolly be rich as all get out...why the swtich back to the twins?
plus most have said that the stock twins won't make more power than the...
general rule of thumbs say that running a quart over the full amount puts extra pressure on the rear main seal, causing it to fail over time...but what do i know, i come from a family of 8v lovers!!
I think most people in this thread is giving safe advice...I see nothing wrong with that..I heard of people running 20+psi with the twins but i wouldn't tell someone..."sure you can run 20psi safely"...
Wow, do you know what mods it took to get there? cause around 400hp is all i would want in my 260z...The only reason i went single is because of cost and reliability...Do you have the dyno chart for this? i would imagine that 1j made a pretty nice tq curve with the stock twins...
If only it was...
Sure that will help, but it might not be worth the cost, when you can just go single and be done with it..From the info i got low 300hp is fairly safe with the twins..don't for get these turbos are 15+ years old!! Do some more research on going steel and the cost..
