How easy does your car shift?

my w58 n/a shifts like butter compared to my '88T. (Spec stage 3 with stock fw and NM shifter). On the Turbo shifts are short and notchy and harder to pull. Not nearly as fast as na. But of course it has to handle the extra hp & torque. I want to drive a Tundra and check out their 6-spd, perhaps...

    crank pulley

If it doesn't have the fw on, it's not impossible, you just hafta get creative. You can pull the pan and jam the right size piece of wood or something right on the crank, if you use a metal object just make sure its wrapped nicely (so you don't nick anything).

    crank pulley

Use a breaker bar on a large socket wrench handle, and stand on it. (Might be a good idea to jam the fw as well so it doesn't turn).

    Buying a engine that sat...

the only way to "guarantee" that nothing will go wrong with a used engine is to completely rebuild it, period. Or, if you're trying to save money, throw it in there and run it till it stops working...

The Worst Thing About Your Supra

man, where to start...needs suspension, bushings, bbk, paint & body, exhaust, new wheels & tires, new leather on the front seats, tranny & rear end rebuild, driver's door handle, mudflaps, windshield, etc. The only good things are the motor, turbo & clutch that we just finished.

    HG help

If you're doing a complete rebuild then wait till the block and head have been prepped. Then you can measure the deck heights to see which gasket thickness will bring it back close to stock. (We're talking thousands of an inch here), so don't buy any gasket till you know which one you need. If...

    Suspension Upgrade questions

I'm currently budget building my '88T and I bought Tokico shocks and Eibach springs for it. I'm wondering what else I should do to improve handling, ie balljoints, subframe bushings, better swaybars, different swaybar bushings, that sort of thing. I've tried to read the pertinent stuff, but any...

    Buying a new engine

there are no "good reliable" places that sell used engines, you take your chances... you'd be better off buying an already built one off a member here, or getting a jdm and rebuilding it yourself. Its a huge hassle to drop it all in and find out its a p.o.s.

Dies when I hit the gas pedal...

Good advice to check the cps, and the Wiring going to it. One of those 20 yr old wires can break easily right by the plug.

    Brake Warning Light

there is a relay in the back by the rear brake light, these go on the fritz alot. If any water gets in there they can be a problem. Mine did the same thing, and after hardwiring this part, it went away.

    Battery Relocation

I'm currently building an '88T, and I'd like to relocate the battery to the spare tire bay. Can anyone offer any insight on this? I'm not sure the best place to run the cable (from back to front). ie. Interior or Exterior. Thanks!

Where/How did you get YOUR MK3(s)?

Started out with MK II's. After a couple of those, I bought an '87 n/a about 7 yrs ago thats still my dd today. (Rebuilt everything). Now I'm building my '88T and its costing a packet. But I want a 500 horse dd, so I'm not skimping. I'll start a build thread soon since the motor and tranny are...
