Hows the turbo install coming along Dave? I'm drooling for a spin when yer done!! I'll hafta take a cruise out to Ditchmond and see that sweet unit in person!
Jeezus, my low gas light wasn't even on, and I filled up today, 80 freakin' bucks! I live in BC Canada, man, what a ripoff. Like 1.40 a liter for 94 Octane. I think I'm only good for about 250 miles a tank, too.
I haven't gotten my car to the track yet, (lots of work to do before that), but my NM shifter kicks ass! Takes some effort to shift (compared to my n/a W58 with sogi mod), but the gates are rock solid.
I was checking the oil and I put my hand on the ignitor, damn! Is it supposed to be this hot? Maybe not glowing, but I couldn't leave my hand on it, whats the deal? Is my wiring harness not grounded well or is this by any stretch of the imagination, normal? As a matter of fact the fuel pump...
HPF has Tokicos for sale for $97 ea., for Lexus AFM's look in the parts section, they are usually on sale there and on egay. (off of '91 - '94 Lexus V8's, I believe) usually around $75.
Pull your starter and rebuild it, check the gear teeth on the pinion, idler and clutch. If the stall condition persists, start looking at electrical. If this was mechanical (ie motor) I doubt it would restart like that.
If you've never done it before, start early on Fri. night and hopefully you'll be done Sunday about 4 or 5 am. At least thats how long it took me. Or get buddy to come over and do it, since he figures 5 hrs. Christ, it takes 5 hrs just to crawl over the piles of crap in there.
I hope its something crazy and cheap to get fixed. I empathize, Pete. After all the hard work you've put into that car, it'd be a shame to sell it. gl with the repair man! (and with the other issues your dealing with).
you have to take the targa panels completely apart and redo all the sealant in the "troughs" down the sides of the targa. Water still gets in there and collects if you don't, even though the seals are new.
Pay special attention to any hoses that are close to the block, (like the water hose on the back of the motor, the accordian, and all the ones near the thermo housing), and don't forget to check the rad hoses and all couplers.
If your buying a car for a dd then don't buy a beat turbo Supra. If you have a wheelbarrow full of cash, a garage, an engine hoist etc. and you want a lifelong "project", have at it!
Jeezus, 1st place at the "spacial" car show, that thing is the hottness!
Gah, pass me a bucket I think I'm gonna hurl...
-(at least it'll look interesting under all that blue neon):barf: .
Reg Riemer lives in Alta. He's a Supra man, knows alot of owners. Perhaps you could e-mail him. Maybe he knows someone round your neck of the woods? He's on the suprasonic site.
