I still have to get mine powdercoated, but it functions perfectly. When installed, there is zero body flex. I left mine on for most of the summer last year, it was great!
Maybe you should try to find someone in your area that's a little bit more comfortable with these cars. Get them to show you how to check codes, etc...you are going to need some new skills if you don't want to spend unnecessary $$ troubleshooting! gl.
If you really like Supras and are in it for the long term, perhaps it's an ok buy for about $900 - 1K (if there isn't any rust underneath). These cars need alot of tlc to be good, but once they're dialed in they can be a blast. Take that 5K budget, double it, plan to spend all your free time...
not without a rebuild...and even then there are never any guarantees...but if you want to make it as reliable as possible, use a mls hg, prep the head and block properly, and make sure your new bearing clearances are all within spec...new oil pump, etc..
If you have a compressor, get a die grinder, some bits, and polish the short side radii and intake dividers, etc. It's almost free except for initial hardware and some labor. Mild porting and polishing makes your 7M head smile...
Keep looking for a rust free shell. For the price of all that rust repair and paint, you could probably find a good one...unless you can do it yourself? It's cool to bring 'em back, but that looks like some serious repair work. gl!
Nice looking car! Maybe some suspension upgrades?...makes a big difference on the roadhandling! Looks like a good car to start the long upgrade path with. Hope you have alot of great cruises in your new car.
1.30 for 94 octane here. (X 4.5) = $5.85/imp. gallon. Jeezus, someone shoot me and put me outta my misery!! I think it was $50 for just over half a friggin' tank. It's supposed to go to $1.50/liter this summer...what a scam. Gee, maybe I should get 1000cc injectors and 3 fuel pumps, NOT.
I was looking for rear brake rotors, and came across these, has anyone used these, are they any good?

If you have all that time and money into it, and alot of sentimental value as well, I'd store it. Try to find a family friend with a heated garage to leave it in. If not, car covers are cheap. Air it out on the odd hot summer weekend, and dream of cruising!
After the exhaust, do the intake upgrade, (injectors, afm, fuel pump) up the boost a bit, maybe a 1-pce. driveshaft. All these things are easy to put back to stock if desired. That Camry will be in your rear view afterwards. gl! I'd address the tranny too, if it was me...
The head and block should have the lowest ra possible. With arp's and dowels, the head isn't likely to go skating...a rough finish is not preferable here. That actually made me chuckle!
If anyone can help locate the write-up, or knows where to get one of these, please let me know! Thanks. I looked on Supraforums, but can't find it yet. I'll keep looking...
I remember awhile back folks talking about a stock looking boost gauge that goes up to 30 pounds. It fits in the stock location and looks the same.(with the exception of more range...). Anyone on here have that? I'd like to get one if so.
You can try a "want to buy" on here, or there are several vendors listed. Horsepower freaks has alot of different ones. A popular one is the Aeromotive...iirc it's the A1000... gl
