What does running the fuel pump before starting up do? Wont the vapor, if there, just stay there, don't you need to apply vacuum to the regulator so it opens up and purges the vapor? Just not sure if i am missing something.

Perfect symptoms of a bad fan clutch. Is your fan shroud in place? Try spinning the fan by hand with the engine off when its cold, it shouldn't do more than probably a turn if that. It could be other things as well though, such as blockage in front of the radiator.
