It sounds like you need to do the relay mod. Take a jumper wire and go from B+ to the trigger terminal on the starter (make sure its not in gear) and see if it starts up.

if you get a standard female crimp weather resistant connector is slides onto that starter terminal very well and stays put

Check in the engine bay to see if the throttle cable is bent weirdly or kinked somewhere, that would make it stiff.

It could easily be your blend door also. Might be worth it to flush the steering fluid to see if that helps with the noise before you replace anything.

Only thing to consider with some of these is will it take more power to run the system than it actually gains you.
