or you could have your distributor on the wrong gear tooth..way wrong. if you missplace two plug wires you will get an idle similar to a muscle car...not brute sounding but a chugging sound because two pistons aren't doing anything. if its not your wires and you are SURE i'd suggest checking...

metal HG? dont know from experiance but word is you need to deck the block for a metal gasket for proper sealing, my guess is you did that if you have an all metal gasket.

cool. good luck. assembling cams onto head before or after head placement? dont forget to look for gasket rivets and plan your entry so its free of cables and hoses. if you can try and install the intake manifold before dropping in the head. i believe this made it somewhat eaiser for me...
