makes sence. thanks. howcome this kind of stuff isnt used in engines all the time? foam to easily? maybe its because it doesnt hold metal particles in suspense well. i dunno..sry for so many questions.
I got it back together and took her for a spin, i notice a considerable power gain from...
ok. i was just worried about the old oil sludge because that stuff doesn't drain like oil. i.e. i had some in my upper valve cover vent t-pipe and some in the valve cover-block oil vent hose. so i thought there must be some in the block.
i'll just take the cap off every time i run it and let...
no i didn't. i hope to got i dont have a rod-knock. i wont be doing any crazy running...no full throttle stuff really. just spirited driving... during heat cycles i was taking it easy so i cant tell if noises i hear are under a load or just...engine noises.
i turned the crank back and forth...
i can punch full throttle too? i dont have to worry at all? hehe...
WAHOOO!!!!!! no more BHG!!::bhg::
:wiggle: :wiggle: :wiggle:   :runaway: :runaway:
time to go have fun!:wavey:
what parts specifically? how many supras have you had, and how many do you have? you seem to know so much....HOW? lol.
OK, i just finished the 60-70ft/lbs transition and thankfully i didnt have to turn the bolts much to active this. i had to switch from pulling to pushing the wrench arm...
ok, i just cracked them in reverse order and went at it to 60.
i will now go out and hit 70, thanks for somehow always being here when i need help!! lol...
ok i JUST like 5 min ago got down to the head bolts for the re-torque.
68 or 70ft/lbs? there's no risk of crushing the head gasket is there? damaging it i mean?
if there aren't any risks to 70ft/lbs i'm probably going to go to that.
really...hmm...i'll have to call around.
so there is no other way to tell apart besides the color?? this is crazy.
dang. well if i can get some in town i might just do that. thanks man.
no problem. i guess i'll price some coolant from toyota. its just a PITA to get there...
i had green in it though so i figure its probably had the stuff its whole life...damage is probably already done.
what coolant were you using? i really really want to just do this and get it done :(
mine says its safe for all engine and cooling system parts including aluminum. and i have a copper radiator anyhow so...it shouldnt hurt that. i guess.
i didnt know you could take the head off w/out...
so it's actually ate the metal from your block. wow. how did you find that out?
edit--------can you tell me what's in the toyota red?
also...why am i finding different bottles for different cars when i search online for toyota red? they don't formulate it differently for each car do they...
what brand? maybe you used a certain kind that isnt as good. tsrm says the kind i have is correct...has a bit of another kind in it but... it was running the green and i think it was fine. this way i can see rust in the coolant no problem.
was your block ERODED or CORODED? if you didn't...
it's really that bad??? what can it do? will the deposits clog the system or what? how about the water? do i need to flush with distilled or can i just drain both the block and radiator and fill with red coolant and distilled?
now i have to go get some :(.
i already bought some of the green stuf...and the dealer is 15 miles away. it says its safe for aluminum... and i had green in it to begin with.
i dont know about flushing with distilled. i will fill with it but i've been flushing with plain hose water...did it about 4 times so far...not...
thanks. so do u think it would be a good idea to drain the block before a fill as well?
what about distilled water? necesary? my antifreese doenst mention it but the TSRM does...
and thats only just recently. i have several hudred of the whole process. i'm going to make a thread on the details probably...
OK here are some pics. dusty car is before washing it with dish soap. some pics will show the dust/clean contrast. it's crazy! also a few of it...
