I'm not engine expert, so this is probably a pretty simple question, but something I have never quite understood. I see a lot of people recommending replacing stock rod studs over xxx horsepower with stronger ARP studs.
Now if I am not mistaken, the rod bolts would be under their highest...
Assuming he checked THA at the AFM connector with it unplugged rather than backprobed, 5v would be expected and would indicate there is no open (could still be high resistance I suppose) or short on THA between the ECU and the AFM connector.
My mistake, 5V is normal on THA (EDIT: With the AFM unplugged). Check continuity between E2 pin of the AFM connector and E2 at the ECU connector under the dash. (This is assuming you already checked the actual temp sensor in the AFM)
Heres a little visual of the circuit.
If the ECU sees...
Can anyone provide some info on what exactly is different between USDM and JDM ECU as far as differences in the tune because of the lack of EGR? It just seems like there's so many people spouting off that EGR WILL CAUSE detonation because of the timing in the stock USDM ECU, yet I have never...

All the opinions you will ever need! I don't normally tell people to search but there's a...
Just so you know, anytime the battery light is commanded on, the brake warning light and tail lamp failure lamp will also light up, so don't go chasing the brake or tail lamp. If all 3 are on its a charging problem.

Yes I have seen you say this many of times but without explanation.
I haven't had a single cooling system problem since I got rid of my aftermarket gauge and installed a stock one :). I didn't put the Tundra clutch in all that long ago, if anything I have noticed better results with it...
I know 3p you have helped me a lot in my previous threads, all I really need to do is measure exactly what you told me to measure. I should really pick up some thermocouples and finally do it.
I figured the vapor entering the expansion valve was no bueno but being an amateur my arguments are...
I've only seen the compressor shut off from high side pressure when idling for a long time, and by then my vent temps are laughable. When the system is blowing mildly cold, the compressor stays engaged 100% of the time (I can feel the drag if I'm driving and I can see it on my vacuum gauge)...
True that... I messed with mine for a long time before I admitted I was better off having the pro's do it. Though in the end they didn't really make my system work any better, I guess I just had higher expectations of what seems to be a rather small/weak system.
Is there ever a case where...
Yeah, the tech really should be charging the system by weight if he wants to get exactly the right amount of refrigerant in the system. I have filled my system before from a vacuum state with cans and I didn't have to jump the compressor, the can had enough pressure to close the low pressure...
OEM stat is the way to go unless you are in a VERY hot climate (110+), then a slightly lower stat can give you some headroom (wont stop you from overheating if you already are, will just delay how long it takes to overheat. A fully open thermostat is a fully open thermostat no matter what temp...
Easy check for the EGR wiring..
Unplug your ECU connectors under the dash, put your meter on ohms and put one lead to the THG (black w/ yellow stripe) wire of the harness and the other to E2 (brown) of the harness. You should get a reading, somewhere between 2k and 70k ohms depending on how...
Code 71 is from either an open in the circuit/sensor or the temp sensor is reading too cool when the egr is commanded on. Weather wont affect it. Either you have an open circuit/sensor or your egr valve is not opening or your passages are blocked.
As for 41 you need to check the sensor and the...
It is an eBay intercooler kit. I have a similar kit, but it has the inlet/outlet on the same side of the intercooler. Every CX racing upper 3000 pipe I have seen doesn't fit quite right. The bend is a little off and the pipe isn't the perfect length, but with some fussing around with it, it does...
Better yet ditch the aftermarket FPR and put a stock one on there. They are CHEAP in the fs section. Turning the screw in raises your fuel pressure anyways.
Pull the TPS off and check it. Some have the tabs horizontal to the engine and some have them vertical. Cant say I know which ones had which sensor, but if your throttle body is not original all bets are off anyways.
