When you say support, what do you mean exactly? Are you talking about updates and such or technical support? Would I ever really need that? I am really keen on a handheld battery version...if you saw my "garage" you would understand. I have about a foot of room on either side and maybe 3 feet in...
Thanks JJ, I found a similar model for a lot less money, I am having a hard time finding any differences between the two, what do you think?
(edit) Not exactly sure what this means, I assume this is actually a 50mhz rather than 100? "- 100 MHz, 50 MHz Bandwidths". Is 100mhz necessary...
Happened to stumble on this, thought I would share it. I can't say I know the first thing about how the strain gauge setup works, but I will be doing some reading. Looks really neat and he already has one fully functional on his truck...
Considering carburetors were still in production mid to late 80's, I would say the Supra ecu is pretty damn sophisticated for its age, but considering I wasn't around to see it I guess my argument is pretty invalid :p
...and I can only imagine delving into the workings of a late model...
Ok thanks guys I think that clears everything up. Looks like the TCCS is more complicated that I would expect it to be for its age as usual (the thing is older than I am!). These are things I would expect out of a modern vehicle, never seizes to amaze me how in depth the guys at Toyota took it.
Just some questions about the factory knock sensors...
First off, how well do they work as far as effectively reducing knock? Supposedly the 7m creates a ton of noise on the knock sensors under completely normal operation, so how does the stock ECU differentiate noise from knock? Does it look...

Is that the one you are refering to?
Can any standard lab scope be used on secondary ignition with the correct leads?
Any explanation why its not a good idea? Considering he was messing with things in the engine bay possibly with the wiring or ecu grounds etc and it takes about 2 minutes, its something I usually do before I start chasing a code. Considering code 11 is a stored code, not active (AFAIK) It would...
Unfortunately, I tried using the bearing from a ranger (looks to be the same one) and picked up a pretty terrible vibration... I since put a Toyota bearing on order and will get it installed/get the shaft balanced, hopefully that takes care of everything for a while!
Keep the pics coming BTW...
Nice progress, but ouch man that crank looks like its in bad shape (might just be the pic). Looks like someone had the balancer come loose and the balancer wobbled on the snout of that thing pretty good. I can see the step in the picture. The snout should be the same size all the way to the end...
Well recently I have been in the market for a decent handheld digital oscilloscope which would be wonderful for diagnosing things on my car. This would just be for personal, use, I am not a technician.
The only ones I have any real world experience with are the Snap on Vantage and the Snap...
