That was basically what I was trying to get to. The wastegate spring works on pressures before the intercooler, but the gauge reads after.
The turbo is flowing the same amount of air (Maybe more, actually) but you are seeing less pressure in the manifold at the same flow rates. That is the...
Have you washed the engine recently? Sounds like what happened to me when my TPS went south. Try unplugging it and see if the throttle problem goes away.
For oil pressure, yeah, get it checked with a good gauge. Also weird electrical things can happen around that sensor. It's decent enough...
Bigger intercooler means cooler air. Cooler air is less pressure.
The stock setup takes pressure from the turbo outlet and directs it to the wastegate, so pressure is "read" before the intercooler. A bigger temperature drop means a bigger pressure drop as well, so if your boost pressure goes...
Did you get the bolts from the middle part in the grille opening that go up into the support bar?
When I took these out in my '89, most of them just broke, because they were rusted in place. :(
If you have an oil filter relocation kit, the Fram PH8A filter is the same mount. It's the one for the older Ford engines found in 5.0 Mustangs. Just remember that it's not about can size, it's the size and quality of the filtration element inside it. Well, unless the point is to have a larger...
The limit is all in the tune.
Reg Reimer's '82 Supra was running a stock gasket, and stock bolts torqued to 72 ft lbs, and putting down more than 400 at one point in time, though the log entry at http://suprasonic.org/gtestory/ lists 339 RWHP and 398 ft-lbs torque at 14.5 psia. I know from...
I have a real TRD shift knob and it looks nothing like the ebay one.
I'm also keeping my eyes out for an OEM one. I can re-do the leather, so I'm not concerned about the condition of that, but it would be nice if the top still looked good. My OEM one got damaged in a break-in, and the '90 came...
7 -> 7th generation
M -> Block designation
G -> DOHC Wide angle. (F for the narrower angle, as in the 1UZ-FE Generally considered more of an economy DOHC setup. This is skipped for single cam.)
T -> Turbo. (Z for supercharged, as in the 4A-GZE supercharged engine for the 1st gen MR2)
E ->...
I was satisfied with the fit of my double pod. I'm debating on transferring the one that I have or getting another. Probably going to just get another, if there's a group buy.
And since you've now been told that the spacers are for the automatic, and NOT for the standard transmission, you should have your answer.
If the clutch is not properly engaging, it's possible (probable?) that the flywheel was not machined with the proper step down.
Good tires go a long way. I drove my '89 through several Canadian winters without ever a problem. Limited slip + decent tires + ABS = decent winter driving. I used to pull SUVs out of the ditch after they realised that 4WD gets you going, but doesn't help you stop or steer.
Also one of my policies in life. The other two fit as well as I'm able to make them. As for "stupid fast sleepers" those happen to be my uncle's specialty.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience. :p
I hear a lot of people tell me that I should get a V8 and have a "real engine." I tell 'em that I've been down that road and that the 6 is more than enough for what I need. Now I'm lucky...
You can see some of the head gasket along the side of the engine between the block and head. In particular, there are some common locations for the gasket to protrude, and the metal head gaskets will have layers, and possibly visible rivets. Take a look along the side of the engine, and that...
If you don't crack the bolts, you can't get an accurate torque reading. It has to turn in order to get accurate torque. If you can just tighten them, that's fine, but if it's still holding, you probably won't be able to. (Though you might with some bolts.)
If you were to replace the bolts one...
My '90 is pretty bad this way. I've got side skirts to install, so it shouldn't be too big a problem.
The issue is that there's some sheet metal in there. Kind of like the '86.5-'88 trim, where the metal rusts, and as it expands, it warps the plastic covering it. Chances are that the metal...
I would like an oil level switch. Probably would be very useful. I guess I'd have to figure out where the oil level should be in the pan while the engine is running. It's got to be lower than with it sitting, I guess it's a matter of how much.
I don't like oil pressure idiot lights, since those...
