For a stock rebuild, that piston set w/rings should do fine. If you're worried I would find some Hastings rings if you can get them. I've had great results with their rings on a few different motors. ACL bearings work fine although they don't make the "race" bearings for us and I wish they did!

Just be careful with the degreaser. Before I put my JDM motor in I used simple green and scrubbed all the crap off and sprayed with a pressure washer. It looked VERY nice, all bright white again. But the white started yellowing after about a week and now every bit of the white the degreaser...

I've heard many people praise sprayglo. Also seen some of their paintjobs..Not too bad if you ask me. I wish there was one in my town.

Sorta sounds like a boost leak to me. Do a boost leak test. Also doing a coolant test wouldn't hurt either.

Fix any codes you have and then make a boost leak tester and use it!

I really think it would work fine.. Draw-through carb. setups seemed to work perfect with fuel hitting the turbo blades. Like said the supercooling effect would help a lot too. The only thing I would worry about is running an intercooler. With the guy speaking of having the intercooler frost...

Gap should be way smaller than that. .031 is stock iirc. I have mine at .028 to keep from misfiring.
