You're forgetting the simple fact that the stock driveshaft can be rebuilt for cheaper than building a 1-piece (outside of the support bearing). The point is, the 1-piece has to be of higher quality because of it's inharent design.

You can have the dash rewrapped in whatever you want. It's not like today's dashes that are one piece of plastic (yuck), you can remove the vinyl and padding and replace it.
Depends entirely on where it fails. A wear failure is usually at the u-joint. A power or harmonic failure is usually in the middle.
Also, it doesn't matter how high quality it is, the 1 piece is always going to have a lower critical speed.
