Oil gets in via PCV, possibly a bit from a turbo as well. That still looks better than the plenum from my '90.
OT questions: that is a coolant line. It is a bypass line for coolant to go through the TB. Coolant comes from the lines that wrap around the block, enters the TB at the bottom, goes...
Taking the hose analogy one more step.
When a wire is unplugged, think of the hose nozzle as being closed, there's nowhere for the water (current) to go, so if you read the pressure, it will read the full pressure in the line. It doesn't matter if you turn the tap on a little, or a lot...
Well, the DM/eBay/CXRacing set would be okay. There used to be many different sets when the car was newer, but most of them aren't available anymore.
I still have the one piece that goes from the stock 3000 pipe to the stock fender pipe, and holds an HKS style BOV, I was using it in my '89, but...
Got a boost leak.
Actually funny. When I hit ~15 PSI boost, there's a sound like someone letting the air out of a balloon by pinching the nozzle and stretching it. I guess that's a silicone coupler that isn't tight enough somewhere. (I pray to God that sound isn't coming from the turbo itself...
It's not that difficult a swap. If you've swapped over the engine and harness, what else? You also need the ignitor, and injector resistor pack for electronics. An intercooler and piping, possibly the oil cooler as well. Your exhaust from the cat back can stay, though you'll want to upgrade it...
LOL. No, but I probably would specify what time zone I'm giving the answer in... Or answer in GMT.
I will say that 16+ PSI on the 60-1 turbo is NOT the same as stock boost on the stock turbo. :D I felt like an addict getting a hit.
It's been gone over before, but the starting system isn't too complicated.
If the gauges come on when you turn on the ignition, it's not a fuse, since the starter relay is run from the main ignition.
Do you have power at the key switch? Do you get 12V at the ST1 terminal at the key when you...
Keep in mind that I haven't done the measurements myself, I'm taking flow graphs done by other people.
The effect is not large, but there is a marked decrease in torque in the upper mid range RPM band, and a smaller drop in the off-idle range. Top end is reasonably unaffected, and may get...
Old rubber can be replaces by silicone couplers. 2" IIRC. You actually don't want to get to get rid of the "silencer" it improves air flow to the intake plenum, particularly at mid to high RPM.
It's been a long time since I did this for my '89NA, but from memory:
A 2" 45 degree silicone...
I understand the brand consistency, but at the cost, and particularly the cost/hp in aftermarket support, it's just being stubborn and mulish.
I'm reasonably sure that dollar for dollar, I can get as much or more power from my 7M as I could from an xUZ, and DEFINITELY within the budget that...
The UZ is nice, and I like the DOHC, but for the money and effort, LSx is probably just the way to go.
Plenty of support to swap it into about anything, and plenty of power with massive aftermarket support. What it turbocharged? No problem. Supercharger? No problem. Big NA WHP? Okay. Engine...
Code 51 is if IDL doesn't connect to E2, correct? Usually indicates that the TPS is maladjusted and doesn't come all the way back. If IDL is shorted to E2 permanently (How my TPS failed) then you don't get the code, you just get fuel cut cycling. I just disconnected the TPS (Setting code 51) for...
^^ this.
It's simple to do, the procedure is in the TSRM on page FI-103. Hint: 0.7mm mechanical pencil leads are readily available at dollar stores if you don't have feeler gauges. Gauges are also cheap though.
I thought that I had an exhaust manifold leak, so I popped under the hood this morning, and the plug that I had in the exhaust manifold where the EGT sensor is going to go fell out.
So, I needed something to plug a hole meant for an EGT sensor... And an EGT sensor. The solution seemed obvious.
