I would take it seriously and use GTE pistons and rods.. that's what I'll be doing along with head work when the time comes.
and yes, one would absolutely need to re-tune the car after doing something of this nature.
electrical tape isn't the same thing.. shrink wrap is a lot more effective for something like this.
but it's a two stage process apparently. from my understanding, one coats the coil-packs with epoxy to seal them and after drying shrink wrap is applied to each.
perhaps someone that has done...
it has to be your coils man.. I know that's not what you want to hear, but that's what it is on my car too.
try the epoxy and shrink-wrap method on them to see if that eliminates the problem (it does for most, I haven't got around to it yet personally).. otherwise, you'll have to look into...
those CR-Kai's look great, but something bothers me about the car's stance.. perhaps its the amount of tire in the rear coupled with not being low enough in the rear. optical illusion?
The Apexi is similar to the AEM in that it is dryflow as well; however, in addition to that, it has mesh over top of the element and a velocity stack that's supposed to help minimize turbulence for motors with AFM's. regardless of bias in the article, it's simply the best of those listed in this...
I've run it for a long time now.. it's the best filter.
The Japanese had a test years ago comparing various filters in Revspeed magazine, and the Apexi came out on top for several reasons. it was put up against Blitz, SARD, HKS, and K&N.

there are also plenty of folks putting down ~450whp safely through a 1J with 550's (approx. 80% duty cycle), Walbro or equivalent, and an AFC.
for anything above that, a standalone and bigger injectors may be needed..
it's saddening that folks like this guy are allowed to exist. I hear a lot of ranting from all sorts, but the reason bad business continues is because of those like him.
if this escalates, I'm down for another donation Mike..
