your symptoms are the same ones I had.. the stock tach will not operate from the same signal the AFC uses, I tried to no avail and eventually went aftermarket.
the aftermarket tach uses the same signal as the AFC though..
A 1J will spin both turbos.. but a journal bearing T04z isn't much better, it's just a really large turbo.
I'm sure you knew that before you purchased it and don't mind the extra lag.
this isn't in regard to supras or even JZ motors, but it's a good read IMO...
you can probably sell that T88 to a 1.5J or 2J owner.. they tend to have better results with them, it's still a journal bearing turbo though.

the EMU is a decent unit for many cars especially when one considers the price.. it may even work okay on the 7M or 2J, I didn't research those, but I definitely read some threads off other forums (google) about having issues with the 1J.
yeah, the lack of responses is somewhat frustrating sometimes.. but usually if one is patient, the answers will come.
sometimes you solve your problems before a solution presents itself on here, it happens to me all the time.
it's absolutely pointless.. my buddies S13 hatch weighed in at like 2500lbs after he stripped it down, and under the hood was a rebuilt RB25 with a GT40 putting down 450whp. then, he upgraded to Power FC and made 505whp on 93.
when his car was at 450whp, "it would explode into massive...
mine worked when I first got my car, but then it stopped.. I checked the wiring and tried a few other tachs (even a 1GGTE tach), and none of them worked. I've since taken it out completely and gone aftermarket.
as Razoe said, pull the red lens/plastic off both the JDM and USDM center sections and swap them.. you may want to run a little silicone on the edges though.
relax.. it's huge turbo for a 1J, and this thread is in the wrong section if you want the best responses. even still, Randy answered your question for the most part.

easily 4000cc's for the injectors.. and fuel pressure is probably gonna need to be around 423psi to overcompensate for the upgrade.
you're absolutely gonna need at least three fuel pumps, but I don't like odd numbers when it comes to fuel pumps, so you better make that four pumps..

yeah, I'm assuming you're about to say there's a center section.. but after checking (high res), I still don't see it.
I always thought you bought the 89+ version later, but I thought it looked good in the pre-89 fashion even if it was just wishful thinking.
