sorry for the confusion.... i am using the k&n dry. you could also get an aem dry filter.
i forgot about the afm on our cars. the metal is only a problem on cars that do not use the afm.
here's the finished alternator relocation bracket i've been working on. sorry for the dirty engine and alternator, it's just on there for mock up purposes. it will be fully polished and probably have stainless hardware as well.

just get the adapter and buy a k&n for $50. i got some advice from 2 different local tuners....
a. don't use the filters that are concave in the center AND have the small piece of metal in there. apparently he's had the center get sucked into the turbo, and that's bad...
i have 18x 9.5. can't remember the exact offset, but i'm pretty sure it's +12 or +15. i had a 275-35 on there with a roll only. i think the rear camber was less than 2* also.
i also had some 18x9.5 +35's on there with the 275's, and there was no issues either.

to start, i picked up a rebuilt shortblock from a member here about a year and a half ago. upon further inspection, i found the pistons had some marks on the tops of them....
then this past spring i bought a complete motor that i was told was rebuilt some time...
i did a leakdown test. cyl 1 was 4%, cyl 2 was 9%, and cyl 3 was 14%. i stopped right there.
funny thing is....... with the catch can hooked up it doesn't smoke, but it pushed the dipstick up after a long pull. without the can, it smokes a ton on decel.
i'll be tearing the motor apart...
i dyno'd my car with the bad head gasket. i also had a slight miss due to the leaking cps.
i have almost the same mods, and at 15psi. i put down 280/360.
it definitely feels a hell of a lot faster than stock. :)
pretty much the same mods as me. i raced a wrx and an sti from a dig. won one, and spun too much with the other.
you should be putting down close to 300hp and 400 tq.
i worked on fabbing up an alternator relocation bracket with a machinist friend of mine. it looks really nice and i'll be polishing it up too. first thing tomorrow i'll be looking for some stainless hardware for it. the first one is for my car, but i think i'll make a few extra for you guys...
