That is VERY common, Bigaaron at drifmotion sells a DIY helicoil upgrade including larger studs for the exhaust side to prevent this from happening again.

Eh, you should really find the original (or one like it) and put it back on, they're lots of fun! Just search on some of the ppl's avatars on here that have a front pic of their supra, you'll see what I'm talking about, they're pretty obvious.
It only happens on certain cars, it's a hit, or miss with the supra. Mine never did it either, it only backfired if I granny shifted after coming out of boost.

Get a spare heater VSV and actuator thingy that bolts onto the firewal, tee in a new hose from you supra, plumb it into your house, wire it up, plumb it, and viola! Hot water in the house again! ;)
A DDP is loud for sure, I ran right off the testpipe on mine for some time, once I got a catback put on I don't think I'll ever care to hear an open wastegate again ;). IMO, the power difference between a DDP and a megamouth downpipe is negligable and not really worth the extra $$$ spent on the...
