    interchangable bumpers

    I know that you would need the turnsignals, upper grill, foglights, maybe a lower grill. It sounds weird that you want to go with a older bumper because most people like the 89+ style but you should be able to do it. I dont know if this helps but here is a pic of my 87 that im parting out.

    ^ Yes JDM motors did have a oil baffle in them. My JDM motor had one.

    starter issues

    Check the wire that comes from the battery and then goes to the starter. It may be bad. I have the same problem sometimes.

    Help Factory radio locked...

    I never tried it but I heard of someone with a locked Toyota radio put it in the frezzer for a few hours and they said it worked after that. I think the info was at the celica forums.

    Gas smell?

    check for any old cracked hoses by the charcoal canister and did you put the gas cap on tight?

    accordion hose carnage

    If your idle jumps then check your coil plug wiring(the small harness that comes from the 3 coils and goes to the main engine harness) and clean the ISC valve. I had the same problem and now it idles like a champ:).

    Sounds pretty bad:(. Since the head gasket is so bad, the coolant is going into the cylinder walls and sitting on top of the piston. Once you start the car (and I assume it idles very rough), the coolant will burn(cause white smoke) and come out of the exhaust. I had that problem with my JDM...

    It is some work but if you know what you are doing then you can get it done. Atleast you dont have as much work as the Turbo Supras.
