IIRC st185 coilovers with a spacer or something work for st165's
mine has a gen 2 turbo and some other little things. mainly just a daily for the winter
Somebody has added a aftermarket temp sensor to the turbo inlet
7mgte engines from 87-92 have the intake temp sensor inside the afm housing
My guess would be the IAT sensor inside afm went bad(common) so somebody tried to fix the problem
Instead of replacing the AFM they put an aftermarket...
Ok so head is almost done. Just need's assembled and shimmed
Also if money allows it there will be some BC stage 2 cams as well(crossing fingers)
Going to order arp headstuds and Titan MHG this coming friday
Why yes you can. For a price :)
It started out as a simple valve job, mill and reshim.
He has since decided he wants to do some major work on porting it.
He estimates 80-100hrs in it just for porting lol.
Now i may have to go for more hp :)
So my head is almost done
Getting the following:
Milled
Wicked port job(by a friend with 1k hp 2j who built his motor lol)
3 angle exhaust cut
5 angle intake cut
Comp cam valve springs(BBC inner springs)
Just to specify "MY SETUP"
Im 2nd owner of the car with 70k miles
I was running 23psi out of the stock ct26(was past its effiency)
To my knowledge stock headbolts where never retorqued(original owner did not mention this to me when we discussed previous maintenance/repairs)
Some 7m's have been...
really?
i killed my 91 alternator after leaving running lights on all night
my optima held up but sucked the life out of the alt
ended using my old alt from my 87
the one one my 87 was smaller in size....IIRC i believe i had to change B+ terminal(post)
Yup did the same thing
Power washed engine bay to remove 20+ yrs grime/dirt build up
Started up and ran like poo
Found spark plug galley full of water
Used shop vac and replaced wires
Ran perfect after replacing wires
Run her til she blows!!!! lol
I did 400hp on stock headgasket and headbolts...BHG now but due to failing fan clutch
If its not your daily driver then yes i would go ahead and do MHG and arp's just to be safe
I have heard good about Titan MHG's. Its what i will be using.
Do you have correct wideband selected?
What do you have boost enrich. set at?
Mine was doing the same thing but im running stock injectors
Purchased A1000 afpr and set base pressure to 42psi...ran good til walbro began to die after 6 months lol
Also i increased boost enrich to IIRC 1.4 or 1.6
Im running maft pro in speed density(best mod i have done yet)
There's so many different features you can adjust and parameters to set
timing, boost, fuel(i have yet to mess with timing control)
23psi here on stock ct(yes i know its past its limits)
Depending on boost level i would have a 12:1...
So cylinder head is at Phillips Racing getting milled, multi angle valve job, reshim and comp cam BBC inner springs installed
Now just need to order arp headstuds
Im a mechanic. I talk to everyone of the customers car's that i work on. Problem with service writers are they dont put in all the necessary info. Like today i had a truck come in. In the work order notes it said "noise while driving". So i called the customer and found the noise is only when in 4wd
With stock intercooler i would say so
Sorry to hear about the previous owner's lies
My old 87 was suppose to have wiseco's, eagle rods, mhg and arp headstuds
Had the arp's and mhg but block wasnt decked or head milled
Running that high off boost out of the 57trim on stock cooler will raise intake temps
I personally would keep boost around 12 until you get a bigger intercooler
What are you using as far as a tuner to reach 21psi w/o hitting fuel cut?
