LOL!! That's funny.. Haha yea you're telling me...I was so used to driving my 1J with wider wheels and different suspension for so long, that I didn't have enough of a chance to find/avoid the breaking point of this new one I think.. But as they say, "This too shall pass"...

My '89 Dark Blue Turbo Collision Repair Project (Unplanned..)

Not sure if I made this timeline clear enough, so here it is: I purchased and drove home this car on Sunday, 12/14 I crashed the car on Friday, 12/19, with ONLY liability insurance, which is basically not having insurance in this situation...so I am indebted to this car for the long haul...

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

I couldn't see the hole at a good enough angle, since the hole is up above the rear tranny mount...could have stuck a mirror up there, which I can do sometime. the new sensors are ~$114 from Champion Toyota IIRC.

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

well I got the plug removed over the weekend, and my used sensor installed, and I still have the same problem, but do suspect that the replacement sensor is at fault...anyways, my pliers did NOT help one bit! LOL Below is the way to do it, and is the only way I could see getting the job...

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

so after two visits to Sears, I found what I was looking for: a pair of reverse-clamping pliers, which are shaped like a deformed lower-case "r" at the tip, so that they are able to grab outwards on a surface (or plug:naughty:), which may be recessed juuust a hair. I also bought a very narrow...

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

only thing is I JUST replaced my trans fluid with MT-90, and don't want to drain and replace it already. (not much for re-using fluids once they hit a drain pan, even if it is clean) unless I am wrong, and the trans fluid will stay in there when removing the extension housing?? is the...

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

hmm it does sound risky. maybe if I had a small magnet pen in holding the plug (for assurance) while I tap one side of it?? just thought of another idea-- maybe I could have someone weld a small piece of metal (such as an allen key), to the inner surface of the plug, and then just...

    Converting non-ABS r154 to ABS

problem is I want to do this without removing the trans, and IIRC, it didn't look like there was ANY room for a drill, let alone a slide hammer :aigo: my theoretical pliers (from above), at a 45* or 90* bend, would do the trick...lol

Alternate Location for Cruise Control On/Off Buttons

will do, thanks. I think I will try to hunt one down..or go with the extra switch. the car is a pre-89, and has the pictured on/off switch. what I am looking to replace are the buttons on the steering wheel, for resume/accelerate or whatever is included. GrimJack's idea (I believe) was...
