We have to go deeper...
I ended up taking that off as well on my car and cleaning the contacts under the switch. More often then not in our cars, that's the issue. Mine work like a charm now. I did have fun trying to get the copper contact strips back in, so have fun with that. They do make...
While we're theoretically having this conversation, I strongly recommend cleaning out your intercooler. I found all sorts of nasty surprises in mine, including a boost leak. Or at least I think it was...normally if you put liquid in one end, it should only come out at one end, right?
Also, I...
I've been out of the loop as far as 1J swaps go, so I hadnt heard of that option. I wouldnt be thrilled about cutting holes in the firewall, but otherwise that does sound like a better option for sure.
Nice! Going to have to write that down somewhere.
My mom actually found a pristine copy of Automobile magazine for christmas showcasing the 87 turbo and all sorts of other turbo 80s goodness, and it's quite great
Because there's waaaay too many of them haha. Should probably just make one sticky with big ol "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" on it, and link to the other threads
Also, I didnt realize you were so far into it. Good luck with it, and post pics when you're done!
Thanks for posting that pic destrux...it's also proof that the windshield is a high pressure area, and shimming/anti-trimming the hood only creates stagnant air as it tries to go in and pressurizes the engine bay, which actually loses downforce. Where else is the air going to go?
I agree that...
That's actually just some flat black in a can that I bought from an arts and crafts store that was going out of business. It's meant for plastic, but it still holds fine. I didnt even do anything other than wash them to get the wheels prepped.
I wasnt worried about wheel weights or overspray on...
This guy knows what's up. I'm working on an easy vented hood design just to lower underhood temps and prolong the life of stuff like VCGs, radiator hoses, spark plug wires, etc. but I cant imagine it being ready any time soon
There's quite a bit to it. Honestly, your best bet without getting over your head is to stick with the N/A for now, learn absolutely everything you can, save as much info as you can, and maybe do an N/A-T setup, where you turbo the 7M-GE. Unless you have access to an engine hoist, know how to...
Cant comment on the Toyota gasket, but that is a good point. I think they stay sealed and in great shape for their age.
Usually people go Felpro. I bought a set a long time ago, put it on not too long ago. Try not to lose the grommets for the bolts themselves...I did. I used some Ultra Black...
As a booster, meaning both? I always wondered if there would be an easy way to have coolant go in at the head around cylinders 1 and 6, and down through the block. 2 entries and reverse flow. Just one of those "in a perfect world" ideas
Wow, those suuuuure are some pretty blue cam gears! Are you sure your hue isnt adjusted correctly?
Seriously though, I'm working on it and will get back to you :)
