Sorry for the confusion. It only took me 2 hrs because I have an after market electric fan. So there is no fan or shroud in the way. That R&R will add time to the job. But after you do it once, you'll see that its easy.

Ok...here's what REALLY happens. As I stated above, try not to run often below 1/4 tank,,,because..1)..the fuel keeps the electric pump cool. We (at the shop) replace a dozen pumps per year (mostly Chevy) and many are due to the customer running it at about a 1/4 tank or less. Also..2)...

What happens is this... Carbon build up on the intake valves will act like a sponge upon startup. It soaks up some of the fuel, and causes a bit of a lean condition, until the engine runs for a few minutes, and the carbon gets saturated.:icon_bigg

At the shop, we use one of those camping propane bottles, and a little valve that has a botton on it to squirt some gas, and a rubber hose. With the engine idling, we take the hose and squirt gas along the intake gaskets, and throttlebody, etc. Don't hold the botton on too long, as too much...
