    Compression Testing Questions

Well...you made me sssoooo mad, that I'm going to bed !!!!!!:icon_evil Right after this info....... But...souprat is correct about 80 psi problem. Sounds like you have a burnt valve (the most common 'low-compression' cause). You'll probably end up pulling the head and sending it to the...

    Battery Harness

Make one from some of that very stiff galvanized metal that has a bunch of pre-drilled holes in it,....from hardware store. Costs like 99 cents. You can get the long bolt and nut and the 6mm bolt at the auto parts store for 3 bucks.

    engine missing

You'll have to treat it like a brand new problem, and start with spark at each cylinder, then move on to fuel at each cylinder, until you've found the cylinder(s) to blame. Vacuum leaks can cause it. Do you know how to check all the hoses??? If they are hooked up to the wrong port, you may...

    Melted Hoses help

Some times I've had to use some regular pliers, with very good serated jaws, and 'chew' the old crap off. Don't press too hard and collapse the metal pipe.

    question about a/f ratios

Extreme heat in the cumustion chamber when lean. Lean mis-fires means wasted fuel, and power loss.

    front main seal

Yep, sure enough. Book time is something like only 2.2 hrs. All from the top. A bit of a sore lower back for a couple of days.

    speedometer

It is cable driven, with gears. Perhaps someone along the way has swapped either the differential, or the tranny. So the gear in the tranny does not match up to the gear ratio of the diff.

    front main seal

Just did belt and seals last month. Quickly...2 hrs, start to finish. (of course I had done it before, so I knew every bolt & step in the correct order). Casually, (don't drink too much beer :biglaugh: ), 3-4 hrs. I did not have to remove radiator or coolant. The dampener came of...

    A/C Problem

Turbo......PG 4 in the AC section of TSRM shows a wire from the AC amplifier going to the EFI? http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/24_AC.pdf PG 6 also. "to EFI" http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/24_AC.pdf This would be the signal that tells the ECU to up the idle. Last month we...

    crank, start, and dead

Check/swap fuel pump relay. Also the ECU relay. Perform a fuel pressure test. Does it start right back up?? Does it lose spark??

    inertia switch location????

The fuel pump switch in the AFM would disengage without air intake, which would cut power to the 'circuit opening relay', and power to the pump would cease. The ECU controls this relay on turbo cars.:icon_bigg PG 70 in wiring diagram. http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/07_FI.pdf

    Testing the DashPot

Above post is close, but not. The dash pot serves one purpose....to lower emmision levels when the throttle is closed suddenly. It keeps it open for a second, and slowly lets it close. You can eliminate it if you wish. But keep it in case you need it for a smog test. Our cars are so...

    A/C Problem

The computer codes. Check the TSRM on how to get them. http://groundsky.co.nz/techinfo/TSRM/ The computer senses a load, and raises the idle thru the ISC.

    water slushing sound behind dash.

You'll get the waterfall whenever you drain the coolant and then fill back up. I took someone here's advice about 3 years ago, and it works everytime. I cut the little 'air bleed' dangle thingy off the thermostat, and then drill the hole out to 4mm. It lets the air purge its self out while...

    Missfire solved

Probably got cracked upon installation. Happened to me once on another car. Drove the car a month, no problems, then all of a sudden, while cruisin' down the freeway, BAM, the ceramic blew out, and compression leaked right by what was left. Had to drive 10 miles like that to find a parts...
