SMH...around here you can't even give away a GOOD GE. If you'd like to come out here, you're more than welcome to do a HG job on his car in my driveway. Might wanna start around 1am when the temp finally drops below 100*. Otherwise, gotta do what we gotta do -- he needs to get to work...
I recently did a '89 GTE motor/harness/ecu into a '90 NA chassis. You basically need everything that attaches to your '87 harness under the hood and you might have to do some simple wiring on the ECU side of the engine harness to match up with the '90 chassis harness. The '89 is kinda the...
We have a built 7M-GTE waiting to be transplanted. If you didn't notice...I'm in AZ. No way in hell we're doing a motor swap in the middle of summer here. I could care less what happens to the GE.
Hopefully stopped an oil leak that has been pestering me for some time. The drain tube from my turbo wasn't sealed very well at the block. Pulled it, cleaned it, roughed up the "nipple", and re-assembled tightening the piss outta the clamp. The clamp wasn't on very tight and I think that WAS...
LOL...my son's 89 GE is blown between cyls 3 & 4 right now. The cyls are swapping compression. Sounds like a badass cam...LOL! Unfortunately with loss of compression in two cyls, it's a nutless wonder. It still runs and drives just fine...just a little less quick than it used to be. No...
Sorry I don't have an answer for you. I have an after market (Pro Sport) electric gauge and it does the same thing. When cold it appears to work correctly -- 45psi or so when I first start the car. As it warms up and I start driving my pressure is ridiculously low and 0 at stops. There are...
It has a worm clamp on it, but hell, I can't even touch the hose. LOL. Getting the clamp loose is the least of my worries. Getting the hose off and a new one on is what I'm thinking is going to be the worst part.
There is a coolant hard line that runs across the back of the motor and a hose attaches to the driver side of it just below the EGR. Any way to get at this hose and replace it without damn near pulling the motor? I can't even see the damn thing, but know it's leaking. The leak is VERY minor...
Sounds like a head gasket to me. I had the exact same symptoms on two cars before the HGs went away totally. I wasn't over heating, either, but I was loosing coolant and didn't know where it was going. Pulled the plugs and found my coolant.
'Rolling shell' -- I assume no engine or trans? Do your wheels fit properly? Do you have over sized brakes? If everything moves freely without the wheels on, good chance the calipers are caught on the inside of the wheels. Did it used to move and now it doesn't? What has changed since the...
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this...
