i had my motor completely rebuilt last year and blew a head gasket due to my failing stock fuel pump. keep in mind that i was only running 10 pounds of boost on the stock turbo.
my car is an 86.5 and the fuel pump was never changed. it was failing even though the car only had ~76000 miles...
sorry this is off topic, but in the picture in your sig, the car looks FUCKING GREAT!
keep it up!
on topic:
last time i checked i got around 21-23 MPG on the highway, thats with the 550/lex mod and a walbro fuel pump with an AFPR.
also, that was pretty spirited driving, i also have...
just to make it clear, you can ONLY use a KV AFM with the turbo ECU. the NA ECU uses a flapper style AFM which is NOT compatible with the lexus (KV) afm.
no, just pull the EFI fuse. dont crank it for more than 5 or 10 seconds at a time.crank it once, give it a rest for a few seconds, repeat. let the oil pressure gauge move up a little.
once you see that thing move then go ahead and start her up. check for leaks first, fixem if you gottem...
how old is your fuel pump? after 20 years they FAIL. no doubt about it, your stock fuel pump WILL let you down. since you have a metal head gasket, its even MORE likely that you wont blow it, and instead youll simply melt a hole in a piston or something similar.
at the very LEAST, replace the...
IIRC they come from the same holes that the fuel pump resistor plug comes from (passenger side) and the other hole where the injector resistor (drivers side) comes from.
you keep the stock gauge hooked up to the stock sender, and there is either a plug on the tstat cover that you could take out and drill and tap to whatever size you need, or there will be an empty undrilled boss there or on the waterneck that you can drill and tap for your new sender.
those numbers are all pretty low, but they are all close to each other. not enough to indicate a major leak in any one cylinder.
pressure testing it should tell you for sure if you have a BHG or not.
and you only posted one number from your compression results. you really need to post the results of EVERY cylinder in order for anyone to give you any advice.
obviously with that number the motor is worn, but that dosnt mean it has a BHG.
thick white smoke is almost ALWAYS coolant...
it sure does get old. i know youve explained this before as have i, people need to learn to search.
but i hate to see useless threads that will just send people further off course.
