if your have the 5 wire unit, it is the wrong one for your application.
the 5 wire is for KV applications, such as the 7m-gte.
the 1jz uses the 4 wire unit.
not even close.
and sometimes just the opposite! the jdm 7m makes the same power, USDM or JDM.
the JDM 2jz makes 280hp and the USDM 2jz makes 320hp
so there.
none of those commercials have any type of a punch line.
in the first one i thought maybe they were racing to get some cadbury's eggs, but no they were just racing....it didnt even really suggest that if you ate that chocolate bar that it would inspire you and your airport worker friends to...
im pretty sure the 7M ECU dosnt use a diode for that purpose. thanks for the info! id like to try to find a toyota replacement part but if that isnt possible ill have to get one at the electronics store.

ive done some more research and what you said c_ronius is the gist of it.

i looked on the mkiv wiring diagram which also has an ELS input to the ECU.
the wire is coming from what is labeled as a diode "for idle-up" with 3 wires total...
thanks again everyone for the sentiment.

well my red 91 with fresh paint just got fucked up tonight. i was driving through mt vernon (almost wholly a lousy area) and was going to a friends house. on the way i missed his street and while looking for a place to turn around i heard something hit the passenger side of the car very hard, i...
good luck with everything, the generosity in this thread is really amazing. i can honestly say i am inspired.
again hope everything turns out well for you!
theoretically yes that is the best place to put it.
obviously it isnt absolutely necessary that it be placed there. id say it comes down to personal preference.
i happen to like the idea of putting it right on the throttle body it self.
