the biggest problem w/ebay turbos is that they are NEVER what they are advertised to be....i.e. they're not T61s or GT35Rs, etc. i'll let jon @ MDC pipe in as he's torn down many of them....

i'm aware of that....and then by using an inverter in your car, you're taking the car's 12V DC, converting to AC (poorly), then using your laptop's transformer to rectifiy the poor AC back to DC for your laptop. see my point?

the added harshness is probably the tokico blues....they are notoriously overdamped.

why on earth are you using an invertor for your laptop? the laptop needs DC! and most laptops are 12V inputs as well....dig around, you should be able to find a car/airplane adaptor for it.

sounds fantastic. personally, i'd still prefer just a simple center reverse vent....but if a stout replica is as close as i can get, so be it. i'll keep watching for how stuff turns out....and then place my order. thanks for the hard work nick!

it's near impossible to tell what turbo it is from the outside. pull the turbo, pull the housings, measure inducer/exducer of each wheel....

nope, i'm not saying that @ all. the only diff between the yrs is the addition of the braces on the '89+ ones....and that doesn't even help. yup, i think the diff being slightly loose is a contributing factor to the beating death of your subframe. yours looks pretty bad, time for a new one...

eh, i suppose luck does play a part, but mostly it's just a matter of what oil you run and how you treat it. i never really launched hard on it (only street tires, i think a best of 2.0 60'?) though i did plenty of street racing and autox....i miss the W58 for its smoothness....
