    I've the SARD K26 kit. Most HP recorded stateside is 590RWHP on a 1.5JZ with the Blitz K26 kit (manifolds are different), and I believe that was OrinB. Someone who knows correct me if I'm wrong. I would say 600RWHP max. Maeso's video of a stock 1jz with the K26 kit run a 9.X...

    Toyota did take a step back IMO just from the internals stand point. Take the IS300 for example, it has VVTi, it's still a 2JZ, WEAK internals. Take the SC300 which does not have VVTi, 2JZ, stock rods/pistons up to 700RWHP. I would take the SC300's 2JZ anyday of the week over the IS300...

    I just bought two brand new Kumho MX 275/40/17's for $260 shipped off of Ebay. I also bought two 225/50/16 Toyo T1's from www.tiresavings.com for $39 a piece. That was a special that's over with though (ended two weeks ago IIRC).

    a loose/leaky exhaust manifold can cause it to sound "ticky" too, especially while revving. If the tick just started, it wouldn't hurt you to look at that.

    I used autozones when I first bought my Supra.... I hated the fade, the initial bite was okay, but it really became annoying. I'm still using some TRD HPZ pads in the fronts of mine, that I bought, I think six years ago? It was before I joined the Army. They really are TRD HPZ pads...

    man, I wish I knew more. I have a soarer engine and cut harness. I'm going with a Stinger EMS, and that's what I'd recommend if I were you.

    When you say high horsepower, elaborate. Under 400RWHP isn't "high" to me. And I'd love to see a 1JZ with VVTi make more than that, dont' get me wrong, I'm serious. I would think the VVT-i would be restrictive, as it is in the 2JZ with it. More information would be great to know.

    VVTI

    VVTi is good if the motor is stock with say, intake/exhaust. Use it with a turbo, and you'll start breaking shit. Weaker rods and even if you replaced them, the VVTi WILL hold you back if you go turbo/mid-high boost.
