No dont reuse the gasket ever, but you should read up on what is going to need to be done, there is plenty of info in this site about doing head gaskets.
Do it right or do it again.
Alright all the pics are there in my photobucket, use them as you need. Also I will try to get a list of things to do a write up on. I will post the list here before I start the writeup in case anyone has done one or wants to do it.
150+ pics that should be very helpful.
I will get some...
You will need the turbo cluster or guage with the "white box" from the turbo cluster. Also the wiring that plugs into the white box is in the harness even on na models, but the side that connects and goes out the fender is not there.
BTW on a related subject does anyone have or can take a...
Actually the one I have is just a straight pipe without the one running behind the head, its a 89 jdm, and my 89 na has the normal pipe that goes behind the engine. Ill get some pics of both when I get home, not sure why its different but its not like any of the 5 mk3 supras I have owned.
I have never really seen this thread, but here is a link to my photobucket, there are not a lot of pics now but I will dump a hundred or so pics I have during rebuild, car is stock and stayed stock minus the ic pipe going into the fender. I no longer have this car but I do have another turbo...
When you say you can get the timing close but not to 10 what is the reason, is it because the dis is at its max movement? If so then you could be a tooth off on the dis.
Only have the inside of the hole machined, the part that stops the seal from going in any further. IIRC the bolts for the oil pan go into that cover and if you machine the back( as you post makes out), then those bolts will not line up correctly and pull the rear cover away from the motor and...
For the radiator hoses, I know you used to be able to get braided hoses that size, but I have not seen them in around 6 years. I figure for that silicone or stock. I meant for the 5/8 hose and 1/2 and such. As for using an fittings you can get end caps for them to end the line, you probably...
Go with ngk, the laser platinum is the oe plug, the iridium is the closest to the laser platinum, a lot of people like the coppers, but they always foul on me in a few thousand miles and its such a pita to replace them I just go with iridium and change them every 100k, also you can change the...
Rod knock is very common is 7m motors, and they dont really sound like a the rod knock most cars get, but its pretty unlikely that its a shim on the lifter so I am gonna guess rod knock. If you rev to 3000 then snap the throttle full then let off then resnap again at 3000 you will hear it the...
First the bvsv is the bimetalic vacuum switching valve for the evap, then one vsv is for fuel up (ie runs to fuel pressure regulator), the other vsv runs the egr, but even then it only when its on it only causes the system to start and its regulated by the dpfe( not sure what toyota calls it)...
The idle up just gives some extra air past the throttle plate giving you increased idle, so that should not affect it really, it just keeps it from bogging when turning at idle. Sounds like. bad pump not getting enough pressure out.
IJ I am not sure if you can sleeve the engine or not, they told me they would do it for that but that just may be a generic price and not if it will fit the application. I have never had to go more than 20 over on a 7m so I have not had to worry about it.
As for the work they only charged...
So whats the bullshit what I said or what the shop told me. And why the attitude. I have seen the work they do and if they tell me its that price and I dont get what I was told they will do it for the price they quoted, that is how business works.
