I wouldn't use the second circuit as it doesn't attempt to filter the PWM signal. Also, the COR will give lower voltage drop in the fuel pump circuit than a transistor. Bear in mind I'm just theorizing, I haven't rigged up either of these.
Nice work. I personally would be nervous having a rubber hose sitting in hot oil full of free radicals, but that's just me. ARZ has a much nicer piece to go there if this mod is something you feel strongly about.
I do not have any more reader boards available. The design files are available on Assembla for this board, and you can have dorkbots make it for you fairly cheaply. Alternatively, you can desolder the MCU chip and send it to me and I can read out the code for you.
You are asking the wrong person, because I would use the stock ECU running my daughterboard allowing full programmability. But anyway, the 7MGE ECu uses the Denso SE022 chip to condition the VR signals. The circuit looks like this
Like all analog circuits, they need to be designed by experts who understand noise and signal processing issues. The ECU uses a Denso chip after the filter chain that converts it to 5V TTL.
Denso hired the best back in the day, MS was done by amateurs for the most part, and their VR sense...
You need a better VR sense circuit. Buy a 7MGE ECU for $25 and pull out the VR circuit components, then make a printed circuit board at Dorkbots to mount them up.
With regards to the Igf plot and selecting AC coupled, if RC time constant of the scope/probe is short compared to the signal period then
i = C dV/dt
i.e. You are measuring the derivative.
It is true that A/C on will cause 51 and will not affect base timing.
Based on what I've seen on these forums code 51 is not 99% due to A/C being on, most people are smart enough to figure that out for themselves. Typically, people on this forum posting code 51 and having timing troubles are...
The link was to your post where you said you had a code 51. Everyone seems to be convinced the crank pulley has slipped, but with a code 51 you will not be able to set timing properly. You can find more about code 51 here.
If you have code 51 you cannot set timing. Fix that first.
