My Chump Car 1989 Supra, #32

The only OBD1 code I got was a 41, for throttle position sensor. I checked the resistance between the terminals with an ohmmeter and the VTA-E2 in the closed position read infinite instead of 0.2-1.2kOhm, so I ordered a new one. Maybe it will smooth out the idle some. I also ordered a leak down...

My Chump Car 1989 Supra, #32

I'm going to go through the as much of the OBD1 codes as I can this weekend. I'm pretty sure the car was a 7MGE from the factory. Would the VIN show a different type number?

My Chump Car 1989 Supra, #32

Chump Car keeps changing the rules, so; no value back for parts sold now, except when doing engine swaps. No stock oil cooler on my NA. The springs worked great, so I hate not using them, but I may try using the old cut fronts with the new H&R rears (the cut fronts don't fall off the perches...

My Chump Car 1989 Supra, #32

Base value of NA MkIII is still 400, which I have appealed, because the SC300 and SC400 are also 400. :( I have added an oil cooler, Accusump, & H&R springs which puts me into 4 penalty laps right now. I think you are right about the turbo. Al lot of guys are doing V6 & V8 swaps now, and guys...

My Chump Car 1989 Supra, #32

Jan 2014 I bought a ratty 1989 Sportroof 7MGE 5 speed on Ebay, stripped it, put in a cage, seat, harness, rebuilt the suspension and brakes (stock but with EBC Yellow Stuff pads, cut the stock springs, put on RE-11s in 225/50-16, added and oil cooler and 2 qt Accusump, changed the spark plugs...

We finished our first Chumpcar race(s)!!

Bring it to Chumpcar. They have gone to a point system rather than actual $$$. If I can get some weight out of this car and cure the loose rear end, I can see it being a top 10 car, but probably not a winner unless I cheat on the engine. I've got one 6" dent in the front passenger side fender...

We finished our first Chumpcar race(s)!!

Thank you for the info. I was running 225/50-16, Firestone Indy 500 on Saturday that are absolute rubbish, and Bridgestone RE-11 on Sunday that were much better. I like your idea of going to wider 17" tires. So the rear sway bar is causing the loose rear end? Did not know...... I am running...

We finished our first Chumpcar race(s)!!

Amazingly enough, the #32 Supra "Shamu" took the checker flag both days of the CCWS double 7 hour race at Atlanta Motorsports Park this past weekend. We only had 1 mechanical when the battery box came loose with 1 hour to go on Sunday, causing the battery to fall over into the spare tire well...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I think we are just about ready to go racing. :)

    Intermittent blue smoke

Test drove the car for an hour today on the Intestate, and it ran great, with no smoke that I could see. So, I'm gonna cross my fingers and see how long the motor will last in our 1st race, Nov 1-2.

    Intermittent blue smoke

Thanks. I'll have to get a compression tester this weekend.

    Intermittent blue smoke

This is a repost of one I made in on the Chump Car Foum, as I am building a 1989 Supra (7M-GE) as a Chump Car endurance racer. I could use some help from you experienced Toyota guys. I have been spending all of my time on the body, chassis, suspension and brakes, as the engine seemed fine...

MA70 OEM Suspension - Bushes, or Spherical Bearings?

Does anyone make a "performance" version of the rear spherical bearing/bushing? This is for a track only car.

Thanks for the link. Definitely worth trying.

Front lower control arm bushings ONLY?

Started working on the rear last evening and didn't get far. The only nuts and bolts that will budge are the camber bolts that I previously loosened. Everything else is tight, tight, tight.

For Chump, anything other than OE, I'm gonna get charged for "Increased value", even for edging material. I'll try begging for an exemption, but I don't hold out much hope.

    cover, front spoiler

That's what they call it on Toyotapartsoverstock, # 7685114030. I would have called it a chin spoiler or lip spoiler, myself. Anyway, my car doesn't have one. It does have the other parts, including the rather mangled ironmongery that I think was used to attach the "thing". This is the...

Front lower control arm bushings ONLY?

Same here. I'm hoping mine are in good enough shape to reuse. What's wrong with yours?

Front lower control arm bushings ONLY?

Even though I feel like I'm talking to myself here, I'll give a follow up. The front uppers are relatively easy. I was afraid the upper ball joint wasn't going to come loose from the steering knuckle, but it gave up without a fight. While the arm was off, I remove the upper ball joint cover and...

Front lower control arm bushings ONLY?

Finished cutting out the frozen bolts, removing the old rubber bushings, and installing the poly ones over the weekend. That was truly a special time and I will treasure the memories forever, especially getting the old shells out of the arms. Does anyone know: for the aluminum upper arms...
